Title: Cats Hunting
Post by: lilycat on June 26, 2007, 17:19:42 PM
Well, a couple of days ago I decided to try some "Anti-Hunting" bells on my lots collars. I've been upstairs doing a bit of course work and thought I'd make myself a coffee...just gone downstairs to find someone had placed an adult Blackbird [stone dead but still warm] on the TV Guide!

I know it wasn't Basil because he was with me [no change there then], and although I have no proof, the finger of suspicion is pointing firmly in Dave's direction...I went out to the garden and he's out there rolling around and looking very pleased with himself.

So...anti-hunting bells don't work. Not on Dave anyway.

I know it's natural but it still makes me cross  >:(, it makes me crosser because I can't tell him off  >:(  >:(  >:(

Have you tried putting two bells on his collar.  Apparently most kitties will slink along and can keep one bell very still and so not make any noise ... it's harder to do with two bells  ;)

Make sure the bells are designed so a claw doesnt get caught in them. Good luck, my mums old cat used to wear a huge budgie bell with pride  :evillaugh:

"The bells! The bells! They're driving me mad!" (paraphrase from Hunchback).....

Poor cat.

Leave the bells off and let him hunt. You're fighting a losing battle.

Cats are predators.

It comes with the package.  :feed:

I think I'd have to dress Harry up as a Morris dancer to get him to stop hunting.

My OH rescued a bird from Harry the other night and got bitten, really hard and he broke the skin, his hand is swollen.
