Title: To rescues re discounted food
Post by: Mark on June 20, 2007, 22:33:00 PM
I was doing a search to see if any suppliers give a discount to rescues. I only found one - smylees - see link http://www.smyleepets.co.uk/SmyleeMain/Default.asp

In america there are quite a few but not common here. Hills supply all rescues with free food in America. I know there is a catch as they have to give the owners of all new owners a bag - but its still free food which is a big help.

They seem to have a similar relationship with the RSPCA in Australia and NZ - not sure what the hookup is. but good advertising as it gives the impression to the more gullible that they organisation is endorsing their product.

When I got Kylie 5 years ago, go-cat did a similar thing with CP  - not sure if they still do. When the woman gave me the free box, she said don't give her any more of this rubbish, we only use it as we get it free but don't recommend it  :evillaugh:

The problem with Smylees is that you have to pay p & p, so it sometimes wipes out your discount (used to use them before I had the car)

I thought maybe they sold to rescues at cost or something?

Its a shame there isn't a good manufacturer that does a deal for rescues.

Royal Canin have a rescue deal, MPM sell worlds best and applaws at bulk rates too.
Hills also offer a discount, so im sure that if a rescue phoned a company and asked they would get a deal  ;D

Mark, they do sell at a discount (I got the rescue discount), but you do still have to pay p & p on it. Without a car, it was worth buying a months worth in one go, but it was the only way to make it pay - I got litter through them too. There is one route I am looking into, will post if it comes through.
