Letting agency called earlier - someone is coming to do a bit of work at the back of the house some time this week. Probably. They can't be any more specific, but will give him the spare key so he can let himself in. I'd usually take the day off work, but not much use if they don't know what day he's coming
I'm paranoid that he'll let Dinah escape either through the front or back doors....the only option seems to be to shut her in the bedroom with a tray etc all week.
Trouble is she goes berserk if she's shut in - she's a carpet ripper and can move most obstacles you put down to stop her even though she's teeny tiny.
I don't know whether to just leave her with the run of the house and plastered notes all over the place saying "let my cat out and I'll kill you" or whether to try and shut her in the bedroom and pray for the carpet. Any ideas?
I bet myself a fiver he doesn't turn up at all :evillaugh:

Baggy check your lease. They can't just allow anyone into your house on any day. They have to allow reasonable notice but they must arrange a date for him to come. Remind them of that.

Tell them at under no circumstances will you be letting them have a key. Too be honest I'd be very surprised if any workmen would want to enter a property where the homeowner wasn't present ... They could be accused of anything and the same applies to the landlord. As long as you are paying your rent on time he has no right to enter your property unless it's an emergency (gas leak or the like).

That is ridiculous. They can't go around giving strangers a key to your home so they can come in at any time. I believe the correct way its done is "A mutually convenient date and time". For starters, I don't think your insurance company would be too happy about it.
Tell them you are a naturist and you need to know so you can wear some clothes that day :evillaugh:

If you have a standard lease they are required to give you 24 hours notice of access requirement except in an emergency. I know. My landlord's sister was the previous tenant and used to just turn up to collect her mail with a phone call a few minutes before arrival. I soon put a stop to that. Problem is I am now drowning in unclaimed postal items ........ but that aside, they MUST give you notice or they are in breach of their contractual agreement.

The folks here are right - tell the Letting Agency that it has to give you notice of access so that you can be there. These people cannot just enter your legally rented home.

I don't think a hint of nudity would have them queuing up to let themselves in :evillaugh:
Thanks all, as you all rightly say, it's our right to say no, and it's not the usual "odd job" guy so I'll ask them to re-schedule so we can be in.
The agency are usually very good - always give 24 hours notice when someone is coming round and check it's convenient. We've let them have a key as they have one "odd job" man who has worked for them for years, and the place was falling apart when we moved in so we let them loose as we ran out of holiday
Fingers crossed we're moving into our own place in a couple of months so no more rental hassles!

I would think any image of a non-Barbie in the shower would have them running. I know I would :evillaugh:
