Post by: Millys Mum on June 13, 2007, 15:41:34 PM
Since i managed to delete paint i have no software to join two pics together to post a pair of cats for rehoming

Any suggestions of what free software will do the same whilst i try to recover what i deleted?

 :thanks:

Yes, you just open a new canvas, or a background pic, big enough for the pics you want to use, open the pics, and copy/paste them onto the background.

Did you left click on the canvas first, to make it active? If the pic you copied is still active it won't paste to itself.

And are you sure it was the pic you copied? (I hope none of this sounds patronising - they're mistakes I've made! )
Also it might make a difference if the pic is the wrong format - Jpegs for example should be OK.
And it might be an idea to double check the size of the canvas - that's another mistake I've made in the past!

No not patronizing and I am sure that its gota be something basic but cant see what cos I have posted stuff into Paint before but cant do that either!!

I cant tell if picture copied but it would normally and it was a jpeg, i will try and get it a differebnt way.

I was also trying to get a pdf file into paint but cant do that either,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I am feeling really dumb and stupid. Cant change the foramt cos it doesnt work.

I made the canvas size much bigger than the picture just in case but there is no help on the programme. All my pics are jpegs cept the stuff that has come to me in adobe which I cant do anything with at all but sems like everone else can!

Twain is for getting images from scanners etc., so it's not that. I bet it's something so obvious we'll both kick ourselves!
If you're in a hurry for this merged image, you can email the pics to me if you like. I can use Photofiltre, to see what the problem is and email the result back, or if that doesn't work I can use Paint Shop Pro!

Its obvious cos just found help and it will not accept jpegs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How silly is that grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

So what format are your pictures in if you can get em into this Filter?

No its OK thanks I wanted to put two pics together when I help Cat Chat on rehoming  and I thought this would be great but thanks for the offer.

Jpegs do work, but I think the problem is with the resolution of the pic. I usually use Paint Shop Pro, and that tells you what the problem is - Photofiltre can do most of the same jobs, but as it's free the documentation isn't as good as it could be.
If you need any such jobs done in a hurry, and I'm on-line, by all means give me a shout, but if there's no rush you'll probably have time to figure it out.

If you need to change the image format to use a pic, try Irfanview: http://www.irfanview.com/ (http://www.irfanview.com/)
It's free, and you get some filters too. You need to download the plug-ins, but they're free too.
