Now I read the words , understands why she looks darker than a dilute
-
She is lovely.
I thought thats what a light tortie is like?
-
She's lovely, hope you managed to juggle your pens.
I'm chuckling...we have this tortie discussion about oh...once every month i'm sure :evillaugh: Now i'd say she was dilute calico rather than tortie ???? But of course i can quite easily be wrong on this topic :evillaugh:
ok correcting myself..tortie & white ?? See i always get muddled LOL
-
Whats Calico?
-
my understanding cc is when the tortie colours are in patchwork style with white (blocks of colour) rather than the different colours mixed through but i seem to log it in my brain then "forget" again
-
Look for Sasa in Cat show................she is a calico ;D
Easiest way to find her is in the clases cos she was only entry in calico . She is very different to your normal looking tortie ;D
-
Yep Lynn a dilute calico ;D my typo
CC, tortis are more speckled and even, calicos have blocks of 3 colours and dilutes are when the colours are more blue grey & peach.
Lottie is the one to explain further with her gene knowledge (that goes right over my head!)
-
Thats kids for ya Lynn :shy:
So solid patches is Calico and mixed patches is tortie?
-
Noooooooooooo not exactly but can be, usually a calico is more like Sasa, nearly all white with just a few blobs of color and ofeten they have a face mask like her too.
I saw somewhere relating to cat shows I think, it may have been in the states cos calico is an american term, but a top calico would be like Sasa and the face mask would have to be the same either side and not much other colour like Sasa.
-
Yep Lynn a dilute calico
WOOHOO.. i have a tiny amount of grey matter left then ;)
-
She doesn't look very dilute to me - defo looks orange and black rather than cream and blue.
-
Whatever she is, she's very pretty ;D
-
think mm said the photos look darker than she is due to the phone camera, if ya look closely she does look abit grey/blue in those patches rather than black.
-
Whats Calico?
See:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calico_cat Perhaps it explains better than we can or most certainly better than me. ;D
-
Missy is a dilute tortie - she seems to be getting darker with age though!!! Although it might just be my eyesight, anyway just a good excuse to post a photo of her!
