Hello everyone! :shy:
I'm new here, so none of you know me just yet... but, as I mentioned on my 'introductions' thread - I've been a lurker for quite awhile,
and I now have a very special reason for wanting to join in...
I would like to ask a favour of all of you, and I truly hope you don't mind me asking... :scared:
I chatted with Gill for a short time last night, and she asked if I would like to vote in your Cat Show, which I am really looking forward to!
but it was quite a coincidence - as I told her that I was also hoping maybe some of you would do some voting for me! :)
here's my story...
my Mom passed away a short time ago. It has been very hard - I miss her terribly. She was my best friend :'(
and I learned my great love, respect and compassion for animals from her - and she especially loved cats.
After Mom died, one of the very first things I thought of was the cats, because they meant so much to her. Yet, I trust she'll not worry for
a second, because she knows I would do anything for them, just as she did.
I do find some comfort in knowing that she is now with all our little fur babies up in Heaven. We always talked about how we miss them
and couldn't wait to see them - and now, she is with them again. I know how happy that would make her :Luv:
Which brings me to the favour I would like to ask all of you nice people! ;D ......
they are having a contest here in Canada called, 'Pet Idol' and I have entered my Mom's sweet cat, Stitch, in the 'Best Dressed' category.
It would mean SO much to me if she won. My Mom would be so thrilled!
The thing is - I could sure use some help with her votes. I really don't know a lot of people to ask, but then I thought of this chat room.
Who better to ask for help then fellow cat lovers! (My Mom always said cat people are Special) :)
So, if you don't mind, I would sure appreciate it if you would put a vote in for Stitch for me please. :shy:
If you have more than 1 email address, you can use both, and - you can vote every 24 hours - which is the KEY to keeping her number up.
So far she is winning her category, :cheer: but if I have no one to go back and vote again - the others will easily catch up.

How it works is, one pet wins in each of the 9 category's - that is the first stage of the contest, and it goes till June 26th.
THEN - the second stage goes from July 3rd to July 19th when everyone votes on each of the 'Category' winners - to pick the 'Pet Idol'.
That would be fantastic!! ;D but I would need a lot of votes for that. I would be very happy just to see her win her category!
I only wish my Mom was here :( she would love this contest, and she would be so proud of her 'Little Angel', Stitch!

I would like to explain that the 5 hour time difference really does seems to be making it a bit difficult for me
to get here when some of you are - I really am a night person. Right now it's approx. 2:30 AM here,
and I'm just starting to wind things down. I will probably get to bed by around 3:30, maybe 4 :wow:
So by the time I get up and get done work etc... it's already very late for you.
I did get a chance to chat a bit with Gill one night, and I truly hope I get the chance to chat with all the rest of you

The vote count under Stitch's picture goes up 1 everytime someone votes, the count on the left doesn't -
either until the website updates it? or people verify - I'm not sure which. :Crazy:

We have tried to figure it out - sometimes it seems that you can verify a vote from the day before, and sometimes not - don't know why.
By rights, you should be able to... >:(
if you verify the one from the day before - before you do that days - it might possibly work - but not for sure.

Stitch is very easy going and quite tolerant of me... but I honestly think

I'm actually not one to dress up my cats as such - but Stitch LOVES for me to go outside and play with her
in the dead of winter, so I needed a jacket of some sort for her because she would always shiver.
I tried LOTS of doggie jackets - like in this pic:

this pic is her 'Canada Roots' hoodie - but the collars
and sleeves were always too big for a cat...

so I ended up spending a fortune getting her a fleece jacket custom made. It's beautiful and she loves it. :)
Unfortunately, that's the only one I don't have a pic of. :-:

I'm so sorry about your Mum, I'm sure she would be so proud of what you're doing. I've just voted and Stitch is definitely going to win, she is gorgeous :Luv: . The picture of her in her little woolly hat and scarf is so cute, she looks so warm and snuggly, she just needs a sledge to go out and play on in the snow!!
There are some funny pictures on there though. The dog in second place of best dressed, think his name was Medusa, was hilarious! Didn't vote for him though :P :evillaugh:

:evillaugh: Yep Donna - wellies are rain boots. Don't apologise - we're getting used to it - the weather I mean! In the winter, the country was moaning because it was so dry and there wasn't enough water in some parts to fill the reservoirs. Now we've got more than we can shake a stick at! Well in Sues part of world it may have been dry in winter but not here grrrrrrrrrrr, we had solid rain from October through to march!! We had three weeks very hot weather in april and its been raining ever since and its cold and windy and still have heat on at night.
I am not used to it and I hate it grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Look forward to hereing when we all start voting again.......reckon you should start a new thread ;D

Nah, we were lucky Gill - had a dry warmish winter up here, but we've got a ruddy great big reservoir more or less on the doorstep and no real shortage of rain as such (though not as uch as you get in Wales!), but where my stepdaughter and her family live they were saying how they still had a hosepipe ban in December! I'd hate to live in the south for that.

I was just replying on this thread... and it seems that as soon as I add in some 'animations'..
it just keeps saying, 'fetching preview' and that's it.
I've left it at 'fetching preview' for hours :Crazy:
and that's all it does.
always worked fine before :shify:
I also tried going right to 'post'
and nothing happens - it tries to post, and then I get a blank page :(
