After a slight mishap, Bilbo is being operated on as I type. He managed to impale the top of the inside of his leg on something while out and about, so after a visit to the emergency vet he's being patched up.
I'll let you know how he goes on.
-

They've certainly got talent for getting into scrapes, have cats!
Good luck Bilbo. Hope the op's a complete success and you recover quickly ;D
-
Thanks very much folks :)
They won't tell me anything until 2pm so I'm sat here at work counting the minutes. I've already told the boss that when he's ready to be collected (bilbo, not the boss) I'm knocking off work early. I'm more nervous now than I've been about anything :shy:
-
Bosses defo need to be told as opposed to asked in situations like this lol!
I'm sure he'll be absolutely fine, and will be up to mischief again this afternoon when you get him home :)
-
Best of Luck and Best Wishes for the gorgeous Bilbo
And hugs obviously for the equally gorgeous Baggins
Lots of healing hugs and kisses from me and my girls

How's Bilbo doing now - keep us posted :)
-
Hullo hullo folks! Bilbo is now safe and well at home, albeit very grumpy. He's got to wear an Elizabethan collar, until Monday at least. Its driving him absolutely mad :(
Baggins is doing a grand job of being a male nurse, but its only a matter of time before he gets clouted by the patient.
We're due back at the vets on Monday afternoon to check the wound is healing. Fingers crossed he can have the collar off then.
Thanks very much for the messages everyone, its much appreciated
-
Good to hear Bilbo is safely home, Riley and Lukey send another healing head kiss and Good luck for Monday
-
I'm glad everything went well and Bilbo is back home, even if he isn't happy about the collar! it's for your own good, Bilbo! Give him a kiss from me for being such a brave boy :Luv:

Here is the grumpy patient ...

Get better soon sweet one and my two send lots of head rubs for ya. :)
-

-
Aww, bless him - they dont always let the collars off after the first check up though, they do sometimes insist on it being until the stitches come out.
-
Its Monday tomorrow ;D ;D
Hope Mr Bilbo is healing up quick ;D
-
Aw bless him - give him a little kiss from me, and good luck at the vets tomorrow :wow:
-
Good luck for today Bilbo - be a good patient and soon you'll be able to get that collar off (and sort Baggins out!)
-
Hi Carl,
Hope vet appointment went ok for Bilbo today and that he is not so grumpy with the world!
Cuddles from my gang.

Hullo folks! We went to the vets yesterday - unfortunately for Bilbo he has to wear the collar until Thursday now :scared:
Apart from the grumpiness associated with his fashion accessory he's very bright and is undoubtedly on the mend.
Thanks for all the messages
-
Aw, tell him its only a few days more with the collar, then he'll hopefully be free of it :wow:
Glad he's feeling perkier and back to his normal self
-
Not too long to wait, then look out Baggy!
-
Thats good to hear Carl :)
-
How is the patient today Carl?
Is the collar off yet?

-
Yes - how is Bilbo today?
-
sorry i missed all of this, what did the silly bilbo impale himself on ? (i couldnt see specific details, soz if i have just overlooked it)
Hope he gets the collar off soon, i doubt it will prevent future moments of madness..he's a boy after all :tired:
:evillaugh: :evillaugh:
Give the handsome boy a big hug from me.
-
Hullo folks :)
Bilbo still has the collar on - the vet said we could take it off today if the wound had healed well enough. He's left it up to me to decide, and said we could call in if we wanted him to look at it. It looks like it has healed really well though.
Billy is the grumpiest I've ever seen him :shy: He's eating, drinking and using his litter well enough mind. I was concerned about him not weeing for the first day after the op but he's fine now.
Lynn - not sure what he was impaled on - we live on a farm so there are lots of possibilities. I've been wandering around this week looking for sharp stuff and bending the points down when I find them :)
-
Good to hear he's on the mend :)

He hates everything today, doesn't want to sit down, doesn't want to move about. Poor Bilbo :shy:
is he still making the most of the attention then !?
the upturned collar is great for chucking cat biscuits into from the other armchair lol.
get well soon Bilbo :)
-
Just catching up with this thread and wanted to send the gorgeous Bilbo lots of love and kisses for being such a brave wee boy :Luv: xxx
How is Bilbo today Carl?
Also sending love and cuddles to Baggins too xx
-
How're the lovely boys today?
-
Hullo hullo folks!
Billy is healing really well. We took his collar off on Friday, and by the next morning Billy Rambo had performed self surgery and removed half of his stitches. After a frantic call to the vets we were reassured that the wound had healed well so it wouldn't cause a problem. We're going to have the remaining stitches out tomorrow.
He wanted to pass on his thanks to you all for your support through his ordeal, which, he assures me, was quite frankly touch and go a few times :innocent:
I'd like to say that Baggins had been a good brother to Bilbo while he was recovering, a rock of support ... but he was just, er, Baggins :evillaugh:
Seriously though, thanks for all your messages folks, its really nice to know you were thinking of Billy :thanks:

Pleased that Bilbo has made a good recovery, I can quite understand Bilbo`s touch and go; he meant Touch and Go as to whether he allowed the vet to keep his fingers
If I remember Baggins correctly he will have been a rock of support in cleaning Bilbo`s food bowl
It is always wonderful to see the pics of these very special boys who become more handsome by the day.
-
Glad to hear that Bilbo has been pulled back from the brink... Don't become complacent though, he'll still need extra treats and more cuddles to help him on the long and rocky road to complete recovery :innocent:
The boys send the final dose of healing head kisses, it's important that he completes the course :evillaugh:
-
Hmmmm - I think Aunty T and Aunty Helen are right - Bilbo will need lots of extra loving - and treats - (yes, treats - dont forget the treats!) to ensure his recovery is complete ;)
Well done Bilbo for the incredible bravery in taking your own stitches out, and well done Baggy for rockin' support xx
-
Am glad he is still doing well, and probably a good job he had that collar on seeing how much he hated those stitches!!! Am sure lots of love and cuddles will still be required though and those pics are wonderful.
