Hi all I have just signed up to the forum as me and my gf have just got two kittens we have re homed from a rescue, they are absolutly stunning and are realy nice colurs and markings, one all grey/blue with a small amount of white on paws and green eyes and around his neck an the other all grey with white stripes and blue eyes they almost look like a pedigree cat not your usual moggies, the cats kittens are also brother and sister,we have been told that the father was a pedigree cat of some king do's anyone have any idea what type it could be judging by the colours?
any way the problem we have is that the female kitten seems to have taken a liking to weeing on our clothes when we leave thema round I have heard about plastic bags being a problem (she wees on these to) , but obv clothes are a bit of a pain any ideas what the problem could be and how we can stop this as we have a very young daughter so this could be a problem
Thanks for any help,
-
How long have you had the kittens, the female may be feeling very insecure, so is weeing where your scent is strongest. Put an old unwashed jumper in their bed and make sure they have easy access to a litter tray at all times. It may be worth confining them to your lounge and kitchen where they will always be close to a litter tray.
Tidying up your clothes could help. ;)
How old are the kittens? It would really help to know.
It may be worth taking them for a vet check to ensure that they have no probs, especially the one who wees. She may have a urinary problem. When you take her, you may as well take the other. Luckily the vet will only charge for one consultation and any meds you need.
Your vet will also advise you when to have them spayed. Best to have them done at five months.
More info about their general behaviour would help in solving this problem. For example, is the female particularly nervous?

How old are they? Give us some pics might be able to tell their cross better.
-
hi they are about 11 weeks old, lol at tidying clothes , no its just like the odd garment, coats and tshirts are the fav lol, it has only just started so I will book her in the vets this week , to be honets I wouldnt say it a confidence problem lol as dora is realy energetic and freindly and very curious hence the name dora (dora the explorer), Oscar the male do not have any problems yet other than being a bit smelly lol,
dora has only just started weeing on stuff this week I think it is down to a water problem to be honest, and shecan get to the tray easy,
thanks
Rob, Lia and baby Kaiesha
-
i like the name dora (dora explorer ) :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
what do u mean oscar is a bit smelly ?
his wee shouldnt smell at 11 weeks old
the males wee only smells from about 6 -7mths if they r not neutered
-
My kitten Maisey will do this as she likes the litter tray to be clean......she's very fussy and wont go in even if there's only a couple of wee wee's in (the madam lol)
Also what litter do you use???
-
hi I have tried to add pics but there to big and I cant seem to edit them thanks

-
lol I mean oscars, ermm... bum is a bit smelly lol ,
we thought it was oscar doing the weeing lol un till we caught dora at it ,
the tray usually is clean unless oscars been there first ,lol, we have been thinking about getting another tray
-
yea that may be a good idea as some cats like there own tray to use
-
When she does this, don't tell her off, just gently sit her in her tray (which should be kept fairly clean), talk softly to her, scratch at the litter with your finger and GENTLY push her rear end down. She'll jump straight off, but will get the idea.
If she's been clean before and has only just started this, definitely get her checked.
Lisa is right, the male shouldn't smell at this age, only unneutered adult toms smell. The vet would advise you at what age to have him neutered. Don't go all squeamish, like a lot of men  it really is best for him, otherwise he could get killed by traffic, or infection when he goes looking for 'love'.
:welcome:
PS just seen your last post. Take him with dora when she goes to the vet.
-
we use the new bob martin litter like little orund white balls?

yes kittens can have dry food but its best if u give them wet food aswell
they tend to like a bit of both ;)
-
Yes defo keep them mixed wet & dry is best making sure they always have access to fresh water ;)
-
awwwwwwwwwwwww rob
dora and oscar are gorgeous :Luv: :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:
i :catluv: them
-
I will try get a few more pics of dora soon as the colouring looks differant on them pics shes more grey has anyone got a clue as to what breed they have in them,
-
They're BEAUTIFUL! :blow kiss: Especially like the pic of them snuggled together.
Give them plenty of wet food, especially if Dora is having a problem. But give it in several small meals. (Kitten food or pouches.) Kittens have small tums and can't get much in in one go!
Try to limit the dry food, it has been linked to bladder and kidney problems.
-
AWwww they are so sweet :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

to be honest I was not a cat person it was my gf thats converted me lol and I feel a lot safer with cats near the baby than with a dog,
-
i have no idea what breed they could have in them
with grey blue colour cats
they usually come from the british blue short hair cat dont they ?????
my mum has a british blue cross and he is a bluey grey colour :Luv:
-
to be honest I was not a cat person it was my gf thats cdonverted me lol and I feel a lot safer with cats near the baby than with a dog,
awwwww some dogs are brilliant around kids too
how old is ur baby ?
-
Not really into breeds, but doesn't the female look a bit Bengal like?
Cats are safer than dogs. But don't leave the baby alone with the kittens. The kittens may play and accidentally scratch; or the baby could hurt the kitten. Make sure you supervise when baby and kits are together.
-
Ditto.....My OH wasnt really a cat person, even had an allergy.......but with ease he fit in lol!.......even built up his tolerance to his allergy.......
-
ye i no what you mean, the cats are realy good with her ,shes only 10 months old I know people say you should wait a bit b4 getting a pet with babies but I wan t them to grow up together and 4 the kittens to become used to her and not be jelous, lo as I'am typing this they are flying around chasing each other lol
-
awwwww its cute when they chase each other isnt it
although i didnt find it cute the other morning when my cats were flying round my bedroom and one landed on my face
is the baby showing much intrest in the kittens ?
is she walking and crawling yet ?
-
she crawl very well, and has just started walking ye shes very affectionate with the kittens and loves to cuddle them and go awwww awww lol, they are realy good with her, the baby loves cats as when the baby was first born we lived with my gfs parents and they hav a red and white persian and from day one he was there so she realy loves his and go's hysterical when she sees him, so I thought i would give in and get her a kitten and then I got talked into getting two as my gfs mum got the whole litter of 4 lol, talk about cat mad she was going to keep them all if we didn't want any, so she would have had 5, they have just had a bengal girl die tho she got ran over shame she was just becoming freindly,
-
awwww sorry to hear about ur gf parents bengal :'(
are oscar and dora going to be indoor cats or indoor/outdoor cats when they are old enough and have been neutered/spayed?
did ur gf mum own the mummy cat then or did she go and buy/rescue 4 kittens?
-
basically my gf's mum met someone that ran a cat rescue, they had taken in the kittens and mum as the owner of the mummy cat was mentaly handicaped and couldn't cope with all the kittens, so we made a donation £40 a kitten and rescued them,
I think we are going to keep them in doors until we move as we live in a flat and there are some right nasty butter on are estate and people coming in and out in fast cars not paying attention, so I think that would be best we are going to get them both done as they are brother and sister,
-
yea thats a good idea keeping them in till u move
-
what do you all think about kitten milk should I give it them , what brand of cat food is the best?
-
Milk is a food for kittens.....you have to watch as may give them the trotts (lactose intolerance!) water should be fine......food is really up to the kittens (their likes and dislikes) as long as you keep to kitten food.......and the dry for kittens also ;)
-
If you look further down this board you'l see a thread about "cat milk" by Welshgirl..... have a read and shd give you some good advice there :)
-
you can give them kitten milk if u want
but remember it is a food and not a drink so they need plenty of fresh drinking water
i give my cats a bottle of either felix or whiskas milk once a week as a treat i have 7 cats and only 3 or 4 of them like it the others dont bother going near it lol
as for food what food are feeding them at the moment?
when mine were kittens i fed either felix or whiskas kitten food ;D
-
They look like grey tabbys to me. :shy: :Luv:
I would definately consider keeping them in as grey cats do take the eye of some people! >:(
Have they been wormed? And what with? You should do this every 4 week until they hit 6 months. It may help oscars smelly bum! :evillaugh:
He may just be adapting to having plenty of good food. If you feed whiskas you could try felix, its not as rich.
If your vet wont neuter before 6 months then do phone around other practices and ask them. My boys started to develop at 4 months and had they been left until 6 things may have got out of control!
