I was looking on Preloved a little while ago (receipe for disaster!) and found this gorgeous guy:
http://www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-adverts.showadvert/index-1031161569/d218af61.html
I've contacted the owner, and he had found a home for The General but the lady has backed out at the last minute leaving him just a few days to find somewhere safe for his cat to go. (I'm unsure why exactly, but from his emails it isn't just a case of him getting bored with his cat.)
Is there anyone on here that could take The General on, or a rescue that they could recommend.

What a gorgeous cat,he's very much like my Ging exept he has more white and he's around the same size too. I wish I could help you but I have just recently had a puppy and it wouldn't be fair on him to come here but I am sure somebody will snap him up soon.
He is just ADORABLE :Luv:
-
He really is, isn't he? I'd take him on myself if I didn't think that my mob wouldn't react well to another tom.
-
awwwwwww he is gorgeousssssssss :Luv:
-
I emailed The Generals owner to find out how soon a new home is needed. He replied saying he's moving Wednesday and hopes to have found a home for him by then.
-
have u managed to find a rescue that would take him?
did u ask the owners if theyd consider a rescue ?
-
I haven't found a rescue myself, no. I felt it would be fairer to send the CatChat list of rescues in the area to them and let them decide for themselves.
They would send the General to a rescue, but only as a last resort. They'd rather find him somewhere that's actually a home. I told them a lot of smaller rescues use fosterers and that seemed to reassure them that The General won't be plonked in a pen on his own.
-
fingers crossed they can get something sorted for this kitty as time appears to be running out and as it's kitten season the resuces are all pretty full :(
-
Got an email today. No luck as yet, Sam. :( I told my partner that the chap who has The General wants to find him a home by Wednesday, and he said "...and what if he can't?" I'd not even considered what would happen then! (Duh!) It does sound as though he cares about The General, though.
-
I wish I could help but there is no way I can take another furbabe in unfortunately. He looks such a lovely boy as well.
-
I know, he really does. I know that my oldest tom would not like another boy about the house. He sporadically mardies at the younger tom for being around as it is!
Ask around - maybe one of your friends will develop a soft spot for him! ;)
-
"Hey. I am moving out of my house Wednesday but I actually have to be out by the forth of June so if I thought I may be able to find a better alternative to RSPCA I will hold on. But after then I have to go to the RSPCA."
Most recent correspondence. For all the people who are supporters of the RSPCA, apologies. These are the owners words, not mine.
-
:( oh dear ... let's hope the RSPCA don't consider 8 years old as OLD and try to find a new home for this gorgeous ginger boy!
-
I'm going to continue to ask around, Sam. I've emailed one of my partners friends in Nottingham to ask if he has any friends that need a gorgeous ginger tom cat in their lives!
-
If you need any help with transport let me know.
-
But after then I have to go to the RSPCA."
Is the cat on the RSPCA waiting list? I ask this as some people think that they can just go along and take a cat to the RSPCA. I know our local RSPCA has a list of cats waiting to come in. So many people just take cats there and they just send them away. Which I do understand as the only alternitive would be to PTS a cat that has been in care for a while and nowadays they don't do that. ;D (Our local Branch anyway, obviously I cannot speak for other branches.)
-
Don't they Ela? That's great to hear. :)
Hmmm, you know, I bet he hasn't put The General on any waiting lists. Just to make the situation more stressful. I'll email and ask!
*Email sent!*
-
Good luck to the general, i hope his dad can find him somewhere ;D
-
Been asking round and no-one has any space for this little unfortunately. Was talking to one my friends who works for the CP in Nottingham ans she said they currently have nearly 70 cats on the waiting list to come in
-
Eeeep! The General has a reprieve. :) A friend of mine in Nottingham has organised temporary accomodation with his brother until a permanent situation can be sorted.
Hopefully, they'll fall in love with him and he won't have to go anywhere! ;D
-
jack : awwwwww glad he has somewhere frot he time being
well done for getting him sorted
sam: 70 cats on the waiting list OMG
-
: 70 cats on the waiting list OMG
Sadly that is common, many rescues just stop adding names to their list. So many cats and not enough homes.
-
Yep, my partner was pretty horrified when I told him rescues had waiting lists. :( He couldn't comprehend that so many people would want to give up on their pets. (We both know there are genuine reasons to rehome, but the majority, well... :scared:)
-
We both know there are genuine reasons to rehome, but the majority, well... )
The majority come from those homes where the cats as kittens were homed to someones so called food home. Although this year we have taken in record numbers of 'golden oldies' where the owners have sadly died.
-
:yayyy: Permanent home been offered to The General through another rehoming forum. Just emailed the owner the contact details and asked to be told the outcome. :yayyy:
-
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww :Luv: :Luv:
thats fab
-
Well, in the space of a two days, The General has been offered three homes! I think maybe the chap didn't know where to put the information. He's going to let me know what happens. :)
-
Most recent correspondence:
"I took The General off to his new home today. A young couple on a farm with three kids and two cats. Both of them ginger as well. The kids loved giving him attention and all there was around were rolling fields and barns.I think he is gonna be very happy there."
I think he'll probably be very happy there, too! :)

Well done Jack
I don't think I did that much. :) But I'm glad The General got somewhere brilliant - I could feel myself warming to the idea of a "trial period" with him here! :shy:
