Got contacted that this Persian had been straying , but has been totally clipped except his head tail and legs!
He then got taken yo a shelter where he was neutered and put in a pen.
I was contacted on Saturday by the shelter which happened to be the one Ginny B came from.
She said did I know anyone else that had Persians as this one wouldn't use litter tray . She said she had tried everything, feliway , using two trays and different litters.
He was now classed as unhomeable !
Therefore a decision was being made he would be pts if it carried on .
So, what could I do ?
I just happened to be going that way on Tuesday and told her I would take him.
Got home Tuesday night and put him in a prepared pen, the only room I had was my porch !!
Fully expected to get up to wee and poo everywhere , No ! He had used the litter tray fine.
He was so unbelievably filthy that when you stroked him your hands were brown and greasy .
This boy is so affectionate its unreal.
Since only yesterday , he has had his nails clipped , fur what bit he had was knotty , so combed through .
Today he has had his ears, eyes cleaned and a good bath and he has not batted an eyelid .
He has been to,the vets tonight as he has bad runs due to being fed I think the wrong food, James wellbelovd senior fish .
He is approx 3 years old !
He has had his first vaccine and still as good as gold .
He is the most lovely natured and rolls for tummy rubs .
Mary will, post before pictures for me as I can't resize from ipad .
I think he will be a blue Persian when his coat grows fully .
I just want to cuddle him all day , but can't meet the others till second vaccine and full, bloods done .
-
Aw Gill. Poor little lad. Sounds like he's had a very rough time of it, but also sounds like he knows instinctively you have his best interests at heart. May his recovery continue apace, and may he settle in well with the others. He could be just what you need to bring a much deserved smile back to your heart.
-
What a little star! I bet his going to be a real cuddle monster, even before his sorted out completely. Knowing cat's I'm not surprised he wasn't using the litter tray, he must have felt awful with the dirt, grease, and the other bits going on. Now his feeling better his showing by the litter tray.
I can understand the rescue saying he wasn't rehomeable but another rescue I know just advertised one of their cats was incontinent and she was rehomed. I feel if you actually tell people then they do come forward.
-
Aaw, the poor fella! at least he is in safe hands now.
Was he clipped when he was straying, or had the rescue clipped him???
Maybe something at the shelter was upsetting him so he didn't use the tray...
More pics please!!!!
-
To be honest I am not sure as I realise people don't always tell the truth!
He uses the litter tray perfectly fine and not had any problems , but he has the runs very bad !
Had him to the vets for anti diarrhoea injection , but still got it bad.
Had to bath him down again this morning as he was so messed up.
Spoke to vet and he also on Stomorgyll and have to starve him till tomorrow lunchtime, feel awful, doing this , but need to get his tummy right .
Poor boy and he is so affectionate :'(
Hope that's all that wrong :scared:
Going to book him in for blood tests when he is better .
-
He might have TF maybe get a sample analysed as its easily cured with Ronaxan
-
Liz, what's TF please?
-
Just looked it up .
He is on antibiotics and had a lot to deal with this week.
He had his first vaccine on Tuesday and the rescue had been feeding him senior James well beloved , very smelly fish flavour.
As he is only about three years old , I have put him on RC sensible.
So, antibiotics, vaccine and change of diet is a lot to contend with in a few days .
Will give him till Monday and see how he is then and only see my vet not the locum one !
-
Hope the poor boy improves over the weekend
-
I'm sending lots of healing thoughts to Merlin, poor little mite needs a break.
-
Poor little chap! I do hope he recovers soon - for both your sakes!
-
Little update on Merlin.
I had to starve him 24 hours, felt awful :(
Today I started with small meals of just a handful of biscuits, three up to now and a small, amount,of Tuna tonight.
No runs this morning, so,hopefully tablets are kicking in and he will be ok again tomorrow.
He is a real.sweetheart, taking his tablets and only tomorrow's two to go.
Will leave him in peace now for a few days but he looks like one tooth isn't very good and then his vaccine and blood tests want doing. Then he can have another few days peace and start introductions , although they have seen him through the gate bottom already .
As for not using the litter tray , well he hasn't Not used it !!
He is a very clean boy !
-
hope he continues to do well he sounds like a darling ;D
-
Aw Gill, that's such a lovely update. It sounds like Merlin is going strength to strength in your care.
-
is he the one from croatia?
-
No Dawn.
This one came fairly local and she contacted me on the Saturday and I picked him up Tuesday as he was going to be pts Friday .
He was supposed to be dirty and unhomeable as wouldn't use a litter tray !
-
It sounds as if Merlin has really fallen on his paws, thank goodness you were able to take him! What is the situation with Garfield/Treacle now?
-
One lucky puss. When he is better can you bring him to me so he can teach Zoonie how to use a litter gtray please ;D ;D
-
He has been to the vet this morning as wasn't happy with locum vet.
My proper vet has seen him, he is now on RC sachets gastro intestinal prescription for a week, half a sachet of panacur for 4 days and a steroid injection.
He has a small mark in his mouth just like Pandora had, but the tooth there doesn't sit flush on the one under it ,so it might just be that.
He is back on Monday for a dental and bloods done.
First time today a normal poo :yayyy: :yayyy:
He was very lively tonight , so if weather isn't too hot will,be taking him put the pen and into spare bedroom so he has more room and comfort .
He is still using the litter tray without any problems !
-
Lupin was on those sachets for a while and they helped him a lot cos his tummy was evil for months after he arrived and was neutered.
Loads of cuddles for Merlin, pics please ;D
-
Thanks Gill, he seems to doing better already since eating these .
Will get some pics again if he will stay still !
I have some on my phone to show what a mess he was in and then will wait and see what a beauty he turns out to be as I am sure he will.
-
Sorry I missed your call yesterday Gill, was in bed most of day trying to catch up on sleep after my fall stopping me from getting comfy in bed.
So glad he now has normal poo and you saw your vet - would love to have seen his face when he realised it was yet another one ;)
Can't wait to see the latest picks of the little love.

O.M.G. How can one person have so much bad luck in their life? :(
Still upset about her brother dying Gill now has to put up with the fact that Merlin has diabetes. She's been giving him 2 doses a day for 3 weeks now and the dose has been going up but so has his sugar level.
The vet wants her to take him in on Monday and leave him so they can monitor him for a few days. He thinks he might have a brain tumour.
She's been feeling so down but today she had some 'Me Time' when she had another part of a tattoo done. She will also be cheered up tomorrow when yet again she is saving 2 more Persians. Yes, 2. The owner is moving and couldn't take the cats with her. She wanted someone to take them together has they have been with each other for 8 years. Blueberry and Angel. The owner's daughter is bringing them tomorrow on the train and Gill is paying her train fare and picking her up at the station to come and see where they will be living and her other cats.
Can't wait to see the photos.
Mary
-
So very sad
-
Thanks Mary,
Just want to,say there is a small, chance for,him ,if he has the tumour which is looking likely, he could have to,go,to,London to,have it removed ( it's pituarty, in his head) .
The trouble is the operation is risky and it will cost around £3000 !
Don't know how I will get that much money to pay for it though :'(
All I know is I want him to have a chance .
-
Gill, if anyone can find a way, I reckon you can. Am keeping everything crossed for you and Merlin, and also for your new arrivals, Blueberry and Angel so that they settle in well.
-
Gill et al  You really are going through the mill at the moment :(
-
Just a quick update.
Merlin doesn't seem to be any different and he has to go in the vets Monday morning for 2-3 days .
No idea what's going on with him, but I know at this moment I have no idea how I am going to get £3000 to fund this operation if he needs it.
I have 49p in one account and 11p in the other !
Feel like I am at my wits end with everything that keeps happening as its all bad :'( :'(
-
Seems to be the same few people that comment on my posts.
That's why I don't come on here hardly ever now :(
Think thats why so many have left purrs as well.
Loads of the ones I knew have gone as well.
It seems to,be the same people just posting on each other's threads .
It's just not the same on here now .
Doesn't make me feel like posting anything .
-
 It's a very difficult situation that you are in. Of course it's the huge fees that is involved really.
-
I don't know your situation but you could try the RSPCA or PDSA for Merlin. Vet fees are extotionate I could never afford tohat much.
I looked into insurance but the only one worth having was out of my range.
As I said I don't know your situation but if you own your house could you not get a loan to cover the fees for poor Merlin, I know I would if I could.
My thoughts are with you and Merlin hoping you can sort everything out
-
Have a look at the Blue Cross, they do a lot of stuff for low income people, and those on benefits. The other thing is to announce it on facebook and get everyone to share. Likewise contact some the the rescue charities as some will pay for vet fees for you, while others will adopt the cat, then let you still have them as a long term foster while they pay for fees. It's basically about doing the research.
I'm strapped for acash at the moment, as I may be made homeless if my elder Dad passes away and it was close to it last week, otherwise I would send you something.
Oh and do get a second opinion from another practice, as some vets charge way over the norm for things.
-
I'm so sorry you are going through so much, poor Merlin, its very distressing when you are down to your last few pence and you need money for something so worthy.
When our Harry was so very poorly, if it hadn't been for the insurance we would have had to make a very hard decision, as we had used thousands already, and were left with nothing.
Will they operate and be paid in instalments?
If you explain your circumstances and how he came to be with you? And what about the rescue that rang you to take him? What have they said?
Best wishes to you and Merlin.x
-
Hi Gill so sorry Merlin needs an op ... have you considered or tried the Blue Cross http://www.bluecross.org.uk/2076/veterinary-services.html they may be able to help
-
Hi
Thanks everybody .
I don't own my house it's rented.
The trouble is getting someone else is that's its a very specialized operation as its in his head , it's a pituarty tumour ( very strange as I have one too ,but it doesn't bother me and I can take tablets for it )
That's why he has to go to London to the guy who specializes in this and he has a really good success rate.
I am only on benefits , but I am trying to sort something out , the vet is going to have him in the morning and monitor him to see if he can definately see anything else going off .
I wonder if that's why he is so placid !?
You can do anything with him, groom, clip nails, bath him , give him tablets injections and he doesn't bat an eyelid, just lets you .
-
try not to worry Gill, let your vet do the test's and then depending on the results he may be able to just send the findings to the London consultant rather than you travel with Merlin.
-
What a terrible situation to be in :'( I do hope you are able to find a solution - for your sake and Merlin's.
-
my cat years ago had to have a big op at cambridge vet hospital and was quoted around £1200. I explained to the vet I didnt have a lot of money, cat wasnt insured and I had quite a low paid job. Lovely vet then dropped the final bill to £600. Maybe if he does need the op, you may be able to negotiate the bill and get it reduced? I am sure if you set up a facebook page, or just giving, lots of people would donate towards the bill? :)
-
That would be great Heather, but not very convinced people would give to me to help, him :scared:
I just want him to have a chance at a lovely healthy life .
Wish I knew how old he is too, I was told 3-4. My vet reckons about 8-10 , but nobody knows for sure .
He sometimes looks like a little old scared man and I love him to bits .
I would love to do,that , but not very confident about it .
Thanks ,will have to think about it as never done anything like that before .
-
Gill, I really feel for you. You've had such a dreadful run of more than bad luck, and I can imagine it's knocked the stuffing out of you. I would say the first approach is to the specialist, who may be willing to accept staged payments, especially if your vet is also supportove of that idea.
One thing is for usre, we're all sending you and Merlin the very warmest of vibes, and the hope that this can be sorted out for you.
-
Could we arrange some way of donating on here? I would be happy to help with a bit and it would soon add up?
Keeping things crossed for some more positive news for you...
-
If The worse thing happens and he does need the op and we were to donate on here we could maybe do a photo competition like we used to have in Summer each year.
Gill I know you've had so much shite this year and you've not spoken about half of it on here. With David dying so soon after Winston you've not even had any proper time to greave for him and he really was the love of your life and so sad that he died. Even though you have all the other cats they can't make up for his absence in your life.
Hopefully Marlin will get sorted soon and then start the New Year with a smile on your face.
Mary
-
Sounds good. I'd be happy to chip in too.
-
Me too but I'm also happy to help with setting up a facebook page if you need it. What you will need is to get people liking your page to spread the word.
Just a thought, and please forgive me as I haven't read right through, you did say you could do anything with him? How about start the ball rolling with a series of lovely pictures on a FB page?
-
I have a Lupin page on FB and was easy to set up and that could be linked to any other thing you set up...........loads of pictures will be a good start.
-
Oh this is a really sad story. I would be happy to chip in too 'cos as you say, Merlin really deserves a chance.
Do the PDSA help in these situations?
Jo xxx
-
My suggestions are:
A Merlin Facebook page to tell the story and get regular updates.
Link it to a just giving site for donations
Have a look at Choupette Lagerfeld for inspiration on how a cat markets herself.
I will happily pledge some cash and will be happy to donate profit if anyone wants to purchase from my Forever Living range for a couple of months as long as buyers let me know they are from Purrs.
-
I don't know anything about your shop Louise, what are the detail please?
-
Just want to say a massive thanks to everyone and LouiseJ I would love to take your offer of making him a facebook page.
I am going to wait till Wednesday/Thursday when he has come back from the vets and see what his diagnosis is as I would not want to take anything unless it's totally needed.
Think I should start my own rescue at this rate for sick and needy cats !
Poor Blueberry is knotted up and as she is still nervous ,she needs her nails clipping and a dematt and possibly a dental !
Angel wants her nails clipping and a dental. Both need to start their injections as not been done either .
Do I have my next tattoo saying "Mug "
I just can't help trying to help the needy ones and older ones .
-
Your timing sounds good to me! I'm in New York Thursday, back Tuesday and will have occasional wi-fi. Are you on FB already? I'm FB friends with Gill, Emmmy-lou, Maddercow and Sheila so you should be able to find me via mutual friends. Let's see what we can do to get the ball rolling...
Hi Slugsta - for compliance reasons I'm not allowed to advertise on 3rd party websites but there is a link somewhere to Purrs members with businesses...(goes off to find it)
http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/board,145.0.html
and all I will need is an email, text (details on my link) or PM if anyone orders. What then happens is that the company pays me on sales from the website as they come through so I can just marry up the Purrs member with sales details / amounts and pay it into an account or Just Giving page for Merlin or into the Purrs account (if allowed) with Merlin as the narrative. Simples. :briggin:

Que ? ;D

Thanks Louise.
-
Quick update.
Merlins sugar level has gone down, but as yet no idea why. :-:
Could I have been doing the insulin injections wrong ?
Anyway, he has to stay there for at least another 2-3 days :(
Missing him like mad :(
Hoping the vet can find out what's going on as he can't fathom it out yet .
Thanks everyone .
Still need the healing vibes for my little old man.
So much for being 3-4 .! More like 8-12 !
-
Sort of mixed news there Gill. Am sending barrowloads of positive vibes for Merlin, and hoping that observation by the vet will give a clue as to what's going on.
-
Topping up Sue's best wishes.
I'll start playing around with a Facebook page - I don't suppose we have any graphic artists on here do we? I need someone who can do a logo for me for free.
-
Sending you our best wishes, Gill. Sheila and the Gang

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Luna-La-D%C3%A9esse/1554212108150678#
Ok, I've just been playing around with a page for Luna (I have visions of her becoming the UK rival to Choupette but in a much more down to earth way...) so when you are ready can I have a photo of Merlin please? I've got something like Merlin the Magical Cat in my head with a wizardy, purple page.
-
:wow: Gill would love that as she is right in to Harry Potter.
She has some pics of Merlin but can't make them smaller. I was going to do it for her as I have done in the past but when she sent them to me I couldn't copy and past etc. no idea how she sent them.
Mary
-
She has my email address now Mary x
-
That's great, she can email them to you hopefully. He looks so beautiful bless him.
Her cats are her life and after 2 of them going to The Bridge this year she's not been as depressed as she is now. This will be a brill thing you are doing for her.
Mary
-
All I can do is set it up. It needs a bit of momentum from everyone on here next x
-
Hi Louise,
I have sent a few pictures from my phone and a couple from my iPad.
Hope you get them ok .
Will send some from my desktop tomorrow as not had time today.
Merlin sugar level has dropped agin today ,still don't know what's been causing the problem yet though .
Please let me know if you get the pics ok .
Thank you . Xx
-
Got them!!
I'll work on them on Tuesday when I'm back from New York.
Do you have a Facebook account Gill?
L x
-
Yes, Louise its Gill Williams .
Do you need anything else ?
Have to go,out in 10 mins ,but will be back later.
Thanks
-
Will find you then and pm you.
The easiest way to do this is if I talk you through setting a page up linked to you and putting me as power editor that way you've got ownership of Merlins page but I can go on and edit.
Don't worry. It's all straight forward.
-
Well, poor Merlin is still at the vets :'(
His sugar level is very up and down and still no idea what's going on
He has done a chart and its up and down like a yoyo.
Back at 9am with the new 2 for dentals, claw cutting , one dematt and both injections and check ups :tired:
-
Gill, sending lots of love for you and Merlin.
-
Just wondering but does Merlins food intake vary ie eating more then less etc etc? If it does or type of food being eaten varies this would affect sugar levels.
Sendong best wisjes to all
-
Yes Gill, that's one of the things the vet is doing with his food as well.
He is doing a chart and sorting out how much he eats and what effects it's having on his sugar levels .
It's very up and down.
Gone up again this morning !
Angel the new one went berserk when the vet gave her her injection and then totally lost it and wet herself when he did her nails !
The other has gone in for a dematt, dental and injection. Her teeth are so bad that he is doing a blood test as he honks her kidneys aren't so good !
Bloody people always lie about their cats :censored: :censored:
See,s like these have possibly not seen a vet for about 7 years !
I seem to be a real mug lately for these people to target !
-
where did the new ones come from Gill?
-
A lady was going to take them to the RSPCA because she was moving into rented accommodation that wouldn't take cats .
Nobody would take the two and they are bonded and they are nearly 9 and I was worried they would be pts as when they saw the state of them with the matts ,dental etc .
So muggings offered to,take them .
Bloody hell, bill so,far is £750 and still more tests and blood tests to go.
Little Berry has had nearly all teeth out and has early kidney problems .
Angel clawed the vet whilst having her nails clipped and vaccinated !
Will this ever end ?
Why do people lie like this , these cats especially Berry would have died.and my vet has told me about all the poison going into her system and a few more weeks like this and she would have been dead.
I am so furious :censored:
-
sorry to hear its costings so much Gill, it is amazing how it adds up although from what you have said it does sound like the rspca wouldn't have given that chance
-
RSPCA wouldnt have given them a chance in hell!
Lupin will not let the vet clip claws. well he might get to 4-6 but the absolute no no is temperature!
Hope the new two will be OK
-
PDSA would have sorted them out
-
PDAs will only let you register one cat with them .
I trust my vet and that counts for a lot .
They would never have kept Merlin a week done a glucose chart ,insulin levels and all the care and treatment so far and this is ongoing .
-
I ised to have 3 cats registered with the PDSA I now have 2,as far as I know you can register up to 4 moggies but only 1 pedigree . I know trust in a vet counts for a lot but I like you cannot afford to go to my prefered vet. But if I one of mine needed specialist treatment I would do anything for them.
-
PDSA not very good, always go for cheapest option which is not always best for the cat
-
PDSA not very good, always go for cheapest option which is not always best for the cat
Never had a problem with them Gill. All medication I have had from them has been same as from Vet,its cheaper cos they don't put a massive markup on it and they don't charge for vets time. Booster injections at PDSA are less than £30 but nearly double at the vet when you include consult fees.
For people like me they are the only option thete is nowhere else. Nearest RSPCA is 50miles away.
If you live in London thete ate many more choices
-
its down to personal circumstances, its better than not getting them treated and I don't think people should not be able to have pets if they can't afford vets, think of all the animals who would miss out on great homes
-
I agree Dawn.
I dont live in London Andrew
-
I agree Dawn.
I dont live in London Andrew
Sorry Gill I know you don't live in London I was just trying to say some people have more choice.
I agree that it is down to personal circumstances
-
As long as the cat is treated shouldn't be up for debate, when humans admitted to hospital for emergency a doctor is a doctor pretty much with a vet
I know and trust my vets in fact this is only my second vets in 30 years of cat ownership but when in need it is the best available at the time
-
These are all pedigrees , so they would only register one and I would rather stick with my vet who will let me pay as and when as well .
-
I've never used the PDSA but around 20 years ago, a friend of mine had 5 Persian cats and they all went to the PDSA in Huddersfield. She loved her cats and they all lived a long and happy life. Maybe now they don't allow you to have more than 1 or maybe it depends which area you live in.
All are different just like the RSPCA, the one I do volunteer work for in Halifax is brill but the one in Bradford is really bad.
I think there will always be a difference of opinion about the PDSA and the RSPCA because every one of us experience something different.
I don't care if a Native American Indian or an Irish Man take care of my cat so long as they do it right ;)
Mary
-
Goodness Gill! These cats are certainly conspiring to keep you poor! Thank you so much for taking them and giving them a chance
-
looking forward to how Louise can help Merlin and Gill
-
I'm going to set up a Facebook page for him and hopefully link it to a JustGiving page. We'll all then have our part to play promoting it to see if we can raise some money for his care.
I hope to have it ready in the next few days
-
What is the plan for Merlin then Gill? Has he seen the vet who you want to do the operation yet?
-
At the moment Sheila there is no plan , it's just ongoing treatment , blood tests etc and if things don't get better a scan to,see what's happening .
It's not definate now he has this operation.
In fact the vet hasn't been very co operative just lately , especially after taking the other 2 in , one that was so scared she scratched him just having an injection before he started clipping her nails , she wet herself ! :(
The other one had to have everything done, dental,as all teeth were rotten and gone into her system and affected her kidneys, nails clipped, blood tests , injections started , nails clipped . Both seem terrified :(
It just never ends .
I am taking him back next week and seeing where we go from there .
He has been in the vets a full week already for a glucose chart doing and its up and down .
Just about to join the cat diabetes forum !
-
Oh dear, are you looking after yourself, treasure? It's been a terrible year or two for you and I'm worried you're taking on too much
-
Gill sometimes the diabetic food can help maintain the numbers -nour 3 diabetics never had any success with the food but other friends have so it maybe worth a try x
-
To be honest Sheila I am thinking that myself !
It's so stressful trying to sort out the food now as mine have always grazed as and when, now I have to feed separately ,move food and I don't seem to have time to do myself a proper meal and I haven't had the best news from the doctor about my own health either .
I only went as I have had a cough about two months and I am so tired ( I have fibro, ulcerative colitis, my back is worn out and always in pain with it and nothing more they can do, I have pituarty tumour, arthritis and joint issues and a leaking heart Valve ,, that's all I can remember at present ..lol )
So he said I had to have blood tests as my immune system isn't very good.
They rang me back within 24 hours , got vitamin D deficiency and my big worry is they told me my kidneys aren't filtering as they should and my level was down .
It's worrying me as my mum and brother both died of kidney failure ! ( my brother died of multiple organ failure , but he drank and smoked in the padt ) my mum and me never smoked and I haven't drunk for years now .
Not sure how much worry I can take.
I am in debt to the vet as well, that's why Louise is setting the page up for me .
I am going to have to get it through to myself I can't help every cat now .
-
I am going to look at a better wet food Liz as I have read that's better .
I was up hours till early this morning reading all about the food and dry even the diabetic being no good really.
Thanks
-
I would like to give an update on this .
The fabulous Louise has done a facebook page for Merlin
https://www.facebook.com/Merlinthemagical?ref=notif¬if_t=page_new_likes
The only thing is neither of us knows how to,do,a donate button to link to paypal .
The only way of donating is either to my paypal address or send a cheque direct to the vet.
A long while back someone from another country ask for donations to,save her cats eye ( can't remeber the cats name ,something like Samuri !?)
Not sure how she got the money but he got it all and had his eye surgery .
Can anyone help,or advise after looking at his page please?
Thanks everyone.
Think I have done a direct link now.

-
That's great, I hope you get what you need to help this little lad
-
Ahhh, thanks Gill and glad you like it.
-
Apologies Gill - am clueless as to how the donate buttons work, but the page looks great - very professional.
-
Hi,
I have done the donate button and it works fine -have already had a donation -you know who you are and a great big thankyou from me and Merlin.
-
You just need to click the link Sue, it takes you to paypal and then you either log in if you have an account or you do a one off by debit/credit card.
-
I've got a Paypal account, but not got a FB account - do you have to have one to donate, as I cant see a link? (Am I being dense here? :evillaugh:)
-
Ah well you need a Facebook page to be able to see Merlin's page but here's the link to his Paypal account.

Sorry, meant PayPal, there's the Northerner in me coming out :shy:

Merlin would like to say a big, meow thankyou and loads of purrs to everyone who donated , you all know who you are.
It's so kind , we have a long way to go yet to cover the bill and Merlin has a long way to go too ( along with Bluebery who had to have a complete dematt , all,her teeth out , blood tests and injections, plus nails clipped.
She has now been introduced and seem to have settled in already with not too much fuss.
Angel has just been introduced tonight and just for a couple of hours as she is more nervous .
She only had her nails clipped and injections at the vet ,but was so scared she wet herself on the table .
I am sure she will gain more confidence in time .
This is definately a home for rescued sick and elderly cats .
These two, definately were neglected ! :censored:
I have 3 at the vets next week , two for injections , Merlins blood sugar levels and Blueberry needs another blood test as her teeth had been left rotten so long it had started poisoning her system and affecting her kidneys :censored:.
Merlin is also now on Sheba as I read on the cat diabetic forum the terrine has no sugar in it , so special.food for a special boy.
Blueberry is also on it as her glucose was a bit high but could have been stress, but she has no teeth and finding the biscuits a bit hard at the moment to eat .
Thank you again everyone , I know things are hard this time especially , so it's so kind of you who donated to Magical Merlins fund . Xxx
-
Sick, elderly and neglected cats are really in the right place with you Gill, you are so caring and patient.
I just wish you could win the Lotto.
Mary
-
Sounds like you're winning, really hope it all settles down soon for you and the pussies so you can enjoy just hanging out.

Don't have Face book account but managed to make a donation via pay pal from the link.
-
Thank you so much Pav and to the ones that have donated for my boy .
He is back at the vets a week on Monday so fingers crossed for normal, blood sugar level.
He is mainly on Sheba no sugar now it's the rabbit and chicken if anyone is in need of knowing this .
I got some cat care from the diabetic cat forum .
Will be posting in a day or so with pics of the two new arrivals, been here just over 3 weeks now and a lot better than when they came here !
-
Donation sent paypal from mad_lilli

-
Wow!
-
Merlin sends a big musical purr and thankyou to mad_lilli for her lovely kind donation towards his vet bill.
He is back on Monday for bloods done.
A big thankyou too to everyone that has donated for him so far .
It's really kind and very much appreciated .
Will transfer what's in so far to pay some off the bill on Monday , got to keep the vet sweet, hate owing him money ,but luckily is ok about it being paid in bits .
-
Bless him, I do hope that things can be got onto an even keel. I'm really sorry but with my rescue rabbits here I don't have any spare cash to donate, but I am sending him good thoughts. A friend of mine has a diabetic cat and she was switched onto a raw food diet and kitty has gone from strength to strength and has had about 3 years without medication and it's only in recent weeks now she's getting really old that there is talk about starting kitty back on drugs.
Best thoughts and gentle head rubs for the lovely Merlin xx
-
hope all is going well for Merlin, look forward to seeing pictures of them all
-
Merlins bloods have come back ok , his insulin is now reduced to 2mls twice a day now .
Only trouble is he is now too fat ! So,got to,go on a diet.
Another blood test in 3 weeks, so unfortunately as fast as I am paying the bill off for him , it's still, going up with all his tests .
To top it up Angel,is very poorly , not sure if it's stress related or bad reaction to vaccination on Monday. She hasn't eaten for 48 hours and had to,take her to the vet today and she has had pain killer and penicillin injection, if no improvement on Boxing Day , I have to take her back and that's another £100 call out on top,of any treatment. But it may have to be done.
She has been sick a lot , but all frothy and had loads of wees , some with a sort of mucus and a bit of blood .
These so loved cats are both terribly underweight and quite frail, little things.
Don't think they have ever seen a vet from being spayed years ago !
So my vet bill,is going up,and up and now stands at almost £600 even though I have paid over £400 recently .
This place has now turned into a sanctuary for elderly and neglected cats nobody wants.
Just to think of a name for it , but would like to incorporate Winston and Smarties names of possible .
Please send big healing vibes for Angel as she really isn't well at all .
Will start another thread for these newbies and some pictures shortly .
Whilst writing this Bluebery has just done projectile vomiting all over the kitchen floor :tired:
I would love a normal Xmas without spending it at the vets !!
Think they both need healing vibes now .
Wonder if it's the injections :shify:
Hope everyone has a fabulous Xmas xx
-
Well, no choice now I can't get Angel to eat anything at all and its been 3 days.
:scared:
I have to take her to the vets tomorrow , so another £100 call out fee before treatment.
Can't understand what's wrong :scared:
I have tried loads of different food , liquidizing it and still she won't eat .
SHe can't carry on like this ,,she had antibiotics yesterday and still no joy.
My internet is also down and had to get on here by tethering my phone .
Yet, another crap Xmas !
Only highlight was spending 3 hours at my neighbours and having a lovely dinner.
Then I get back to all the problems again.
-
Angel has now got to go to the vet and go on a drip for.a few days as she just won't eat at all , no idea what's happened and why she has stopped eating .
This is really upsetting :'( :'(
-
That's the last thing you needed Gill.  You never seem to get a break do you. Poor Angel. :care:
-
Thanks, to top it all up I have been really ill myself this morning , think it may be all the stress making my colitis flare up .
I a, worried sick about Angel, plus the vets bills as it still stands at over £500 now and I have paid £300 off !
As fast as I pay some off , someone else has to go to he vets!
I wish people would look after their cats ! :censored:
Both Angel and Blueberry are very underweight , Angel is only just over 2kg and Blueberry hasn't yet been weighed but she is a lot less ,around 1.5 kg.
Never seen a vet except for being spayed years ago ,no checks ups, no nothing.
Blueberry would have died by now if I hadn't taken her .
Will try and get some pictures on later when I feel a bit better.
-
Gill  I am so sorry that you are having to deal with all this, it's no wonder that you have become ill yourself :(
-
Gill not on FB but is there an update on Merlin please and Bluberry and Angel?
-
Merlins update is , he is doing ok at the moment , but back sometime this week for bloods again.
He has been on Sheba as its virtually no sugar in it , but now he has put weight on !
Here is a new picture of the man himself .
-
Nice picture Gill!!
How is the fund raising doing? If you email this one to me I'll caption it and put it on his FB page in the morning.
-
Not too good Louise .
Got loads of likes but no more donations and with Blueberry and Angels bill on top and Merlin back again this week for bloods this week it will be not far off £1000
All have been ill over Xmas and Angel had to go on a drip.
Have you seen the thread for those two -did it few mins ago .
Thank you again .xx
I put those pictures and stories in the other thread of my cats stories
-
Merlin is looking so much better than when you first got him, I do hope you get some more donations as its hard at times when your on your own with a sanctuary
-
Thought I should update on Merlin.
He has been poorly again with terrible runs and been back to,vet most of the last two, weeks for different antibiotics, full bloods etc.
All came back normal, but his white blood cells were a bit low.
Think,we have the diabetes under control.as he is now off the insulin.
Tried a vitamin B injection as well as all the the tablets and he is a lot better again for now.
Another £300 to the vet bill !
Now he has also got fat ! So going to,have to put him on Royal canin light to lose some weight , can't win really !
Pandora has been also, for a check up.
All the others are doing wel including Blueberry and Angel .
-
Poor Merlin. Glad he's feeling a bit better. Good news with Blueberry and Angel too. Hope Lady Pandora is ok too.
Xx
-
Thanks for the update.I'm sorry that poor Merlin has been so unwell again though.
