I have been offered 2 Siamese cats, 2 Devon Rex's 1 who is about to give birth any day (this one was a genuine reason as the owner is in intensive care and hopefully she will come out but will have at least another 9 months in hospital). 3 cats 14+, plus a few younger cats. Where will it all end?
-
have u taken these cats or have u no room ?
-
Do you need any help?

We never or at lesat very rearly have space, however I think I have sorted out. We never say we cannot help and leave it at that.

To be honest at the time of the call I had forgotten about you , sorry. but hopefully it is sorted, if not I will remember you. Thank you.
-
Poor babies. Fingers crossed for them all.

Ela, do you know Lynda/Linda Ashmore? She is in Sheffield and works in rex rescue, I bet she can help. And Pauline Crawshaw, also in Sheffield, does Siamese rescue. Let me know if you need their numbers. Mind you, with three siameses now (sadly not four any more), I'm sorely tempted to come and catnap both the siameses and the rexes. Someone hold me back. Quick.

No I don't know anyone personally in any pedigree rescue.
Thank you all for your replies. Please give me the numbers of any rescues you know and then I will be prepared for any future calls.

Pauline Crawshaw, Northern Siamese Rescue, is on 0114 272 5318.
Linda Ashmore, founder of the Rex Cat Association (I think) and a very good person to speak to about rehoming Rexes of all sorts, can be reached on 0114 258 6866.
I've spoken with Pauline a couple of times and she seems very caring; Linda I know a little better and she's a wonderful woman, who is very caring and really goes out of her way to help cats in need. I hope that's a help. Let me know how things go!

Oh! yes it will thanks you. It is such a relief to have so many different numbers.
-
busy day for you then ela (what do they say no rest for the wicked :evillaugh:)
Hope/glad you have somewhere sorted for the devons, i cant see them being very happy moving esp just before giving birth poor things.

Gosh, didn't read closely enough, didn't realise there was an expectant mum involved. Poor thing. Do phone Linda and speak to her, she's very good with Rexes and is the first person I'd turn to--she used to breed them, and now rescues. If it would help, I should be able to help ferry cats/people between Chesterfield and Sheffield next week, Tom's foot allowing. Coule perhaps even do something tomorrow. Just let me know.
-
thats a very kind offer fluffy. Hope tom's foot doing as well as hoped if not better
-
Not as kind as you might think--I live in Sheffield, my parents-in-law are in Chesterfield and I go there most weeks anyway.
Tom's doing great, thanks for asking--I've updated a little in the Maine Coon thread. I'm thrilled with him, and it has taken my mind off Rocky who I miss terribly. No sight of him, though.

Which area do they live in?
-
They live in Calow, Ela--but we go all over, what with the children and stuff.

I live the other side about 3 or 4 miles away.

That's no distance at all! Do let me know if there's any ferrying about I can help with--we're in Chesterfield most weekends, and sometimes in the week, but if I have time between Tom's physio sessions I could always make a special journey. I'd be pleased to.
What happened with the little Rex girl who was expecting? Did you find a foster home for her, or did she go elsewhere? I've been worried about her, in particular.

Have you been in our Charity Shop?
-
Yes--I think so! If it's the one I think it is I bought a few things, but it was a while ago.

We are on a corner opposite the Heart Foundation shop, and although I know you will be gob smacked, it has Cats Protection on the name board. ;D

There's a clue there somewhere...!
I wondered if there might be more than one CP shop in Chesterfield, you big banana. That's why I asked. Next time I'm in town I'll come in and then you'll be sorry! Ha! You'll have to talk to me about cats for hours and hours and you'll never get away.

The thought of two is unbearable, all the extra paperwork and finding volunteers would drive us crazy. In fact I think it would just about finish me off.
I'll come in and then you'll be sorry! Ha!
I won't because with any luck I won't be there, I only go in now if absolutly necesary as I have too much other stuff to do.
