Signed, although not sure how on earth it could be implemented but wholeheartedly agree with this bit...

We ask for urgent action to raise awareness & encourage the public to choose a responsibly bred puppy/kitten at least 8 weeks old, or adopt from a legitimate rescue organisation.

Hi, I've looked at this petition before. I didn't sign it as wasn't sure about the bit about mother being present. Couldn't the breeder just bring the mother into their house with the babies for people to see then stick them back out into filthy horrible cages as soon as the babies had been sold. Am I missing something? I personally think we should stop all breeding as there are too many cats and dogs.

I think that the comment about mothers being present was more focused on puppies and puppy farms, with puppy farms very often there is no mother as the puppies are shipped out to 'normal looking' homes to be sold.

Anything that gets the government to sit up and take notice of animals is a good thing in my book!

Afraid I have lost any belief in these petitions and how this Government reacts.

This is due to the enormous petition against the cull of badgers which was never even discussed, let alone acted on.

Also not sure about the wording of this petition.

how I wish Tony Banks hadn't died so suddenly - he was  such a powerful voice in Parliament for animal welfare, and seems to have had no successor

Totally agree he was a great guy, a friend of mine worked for him and has nothing but good things to say about him. With all the politicians that we have very few are interested in animals, in fact some are just the opposite. It's very depressing to see the people that are supposed to be protecting our wildlife involved in shooting and killing it.  :censored:

Kerry McCarthy is good but she doesn't have the high profile of Tony.
