Article on the BBC website. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22111101 I have to say I love to hug my cats it makes me very happy. Although Xander is very mean with his hugs.
Also nice to see there are lots of pets out there being looked after very well. Sometimes it doesn't feel that way.

This is one for the Happy Thread.
Congratulations to your OH by the way.

I have just returned from N Ireland having viewed 7 houses up for sale. There was only one house with no spoilt pets and that was due to her son's asthma. She said she would have loved to be able to have a cat :) We came across 3 cats, 7 dogs, a rabbit, a horse and a donkey :Luv2: In fact the owner of the first house was running late but incredibly friendly cat kept us entertained whilst we waited.
It's true that there are many sad stories but the Purrs site itself is a testament to the many caring owners out there too :)

I read that last night and was surprised at how high the percentages were, I think we do have a tendency to see the doom and gloom side of pet ownership and sometimes forget that there are good people out there who love their pets, although maybe not quite as much as those on Purrs do :evillaugh:

All I can say is, I should think so too

I do think I love mine too much sometimes. Like most people on Purrs. They do come first in the family. I know I'm bottom of the pack.
They do make me very happy though :Luv2: They also worry me for instance a couple of days ago when Xander pretended he'd eaten a pin. I nearly freaked.

My OH is at work til late now, 4 nights out of 7 and works every weekend, so my cats keep me sane I think!
..... talking to your kitties is a sane thing to do isn't it.......?
I'm lucky to get any affection from Dexter, but love having Denzel cuddling up. She doesn't mind being picked up for a little kiss and cuddle either :Luv:
:hairrasin: XANDER!!!!! :hairrasin:

:phew: thank goodness for that ;)
Noodle loves to be picked up and hugged :Luv2: Algie is not so keen but he is the one that will curl up on my knee :Luv2: so between them they have it covered ;D

I've always talked to my cats. Although I think I'm getting worse as I get older. My OH was telling me off the other day for talking to them too much. He said I was turning into a mad old cat lady.

If it isn't we are all doomed, aren't we? :evillaugh:
Jaffa and Mosi are both affectionate and huggable. Jaffa doesn't like being picked up or restrained, but he likes strokes and cuddles and I get tired before he does. He's always trying to sit on me and demanding cuddles. Mosi loves being picked up - I can hold him in any position (upside down, over my shoulder, cradled like a baby...) and he just loves it all. He's also a head rubber - or rather a body rubber - he doesn't so much rub his head against my legs as throw his entire body against my legs. If I move away suddenly he falls over  I'm always picking him up for a hug.
