Morning ladies, we are going through the mill again, this time with Wordy, he went off of his food yesterday and is lethargic, I took him to the vets where she said his temp is 39.5, he has gained weight since he last went in december.
He had a covenia jab and an antiinflamatory. That was 5pm thursday. He is still lethargic and wants to be left alone. He has been in the litter tray but not done anything.
He has also done some foamy white sick, like when they have a furball.
How long does the covenia usually take to work?
We are extra sensitive because of losing Harry to FIP.

Sorry to hear Wordy is feeling poorly  I don't have any experience of Convenia myself but just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you and sending get well vibes to poor Wordy :care: Have evrything crossed it's nothing serious an dthat he's back to his old self before too long

Oh dear, poor chap :(. Whenever mine have had convenia they have perked up extremely quickly. Geoffrey had a jab and meloxicam about 11am few weeks back for a tooth root abscess and he was back wanting his dinner the same evening. Especially as it is a bank holiday weekend it might be worse popping back sooner rather than later to check if his temperature is going down. Is your vet open at all or is it emergency service all weekend? Hope everything is ok x x

Thanks for replyng, we have taken him back to the vets, they have kept him in and put him on fluids, he isn't dehydrated as such, but its more preventative so he doesn't get worse.
They are going to do some in house blood tests and some to send off to glasgow.
The vet said if it wasn't for HArry he wouldn't even have mentioned FIP. He did mention Pancreatitus.

I do hope this is nothing serious and Wordy gets better soon

Didn't realise he'd been kept in  Sounds like a sensible idea though, at least he's in the best place and can be monitored. Have you spoken to the vets today, do you know how he's been overnight?
-
We took him back yesterday morning. He has been on a drip, still not eating but his temperature has come down overnight. just 1 degree above normal.
We are bringing him home this afternoon on the vets advice. He is too nervy there and wont eat, just hiding behind the litter tray.
He is now being treated for hepititus. As far as the possible FIP is concerned its just wait and see aparently.
Because of the bank holiday the bloods would just sit unrefridgerated until after the weekend(going to glasgow). So they will be done and sent on tuesday.
The main thing for us to do at home os settle him down and get him to eat, so thats the plan for the weekend, operation get wordy to eat. Not something I really thought we would have a problem with as he is a greedy guts normally.
Fingers crossed for my boy.

Sorry to hear Wordy is poorly, hope he will eat something when he gets home

Hoping he'll brighten up and start eating when you get him home. Good news his temperature has come down x
-
Fingers crossed he'll perk up when he gets home, must be such a worry

He's home, eaten Chikkun, and half a pouch. I put some water in with the Chikkun. He has used the litter tray twice for wee.
Quite bright at the moment so hopefully he will stay that way. Have to ring the vets tomorrow to let them know how he is, back to vets for bloods on Tuesday.
Thank you for support.

Glad he's a bit perkier and has eaten something and used the litter tray

Wordy has been back to the vets this afternoon for some more bloods to be taken to send off.
He is doing fairly well, and the vets are pleased with his progress so far.
Temp upper end of normal. He is eating well and drinking as normal.
Aparently he is quite popular at the vets, and when the vet told the nursed that he had eaten when we got him home on saturday they were really pleased.x
-
Pleased to hear he's feeling a bit better :) Fingers crossed that the blood results are nothing to worry about  Do you know when you'll hear back?
-
Sending loads of good wishes for Wordy

We have been to the vets this week, the vet was really pleased with Wordys progress, his temp was perfect, he has gained weight.
Blood was taken for in house tests. Results came back today, liver good, white blood count good, red slightly high but still in a good range.
Nicky.

That's great news ;D An all round mystery as to what it was then!
-
Yes it is, he still has to go and have blood test for globulin ratio, which they send off, but not until beginning of may.
If he had it done now, it would be too soon to show a true result.
