Title: Stinky Breath Si-cat
Post by: Reynard on May 12, 2007, 16:44:13 PM
I'm cat sitting for my mate at the moment and his Siamese really does have the most stinky breath...

His teeth and gums are fine from what I can see, but when he comes for cuddles it makes my eyes water. He's fed on dry food, won't eat wet.

Any idea how I can make Frankie's breath smell any sweeter???

his breath wont smell from food as its dry-wet can make their breath bad. So can constipation and other digestive disorders. Is he going poo poo regularly?? Is it ok consistency??

Tammy, dry food can create bad mouth smells the same as wet! Being a dry food only cat will more than likely make him dehydrated which causes halitosis.

You can suggest Plaque Off to his owner, i use it for mine and think it helps. Half a tiny scoop a day so they dont notice it!

My lot have minimal dry food, 2 have stronger breath than the others so i think it depends on the cat  ;D

Frankie is 4-ish and AFAIK no health problems. I spoke to his daddy this evening, who says that Frankie is actually booked for a dental at the end of this month... In the meantime, I have to put up with his very stinky kisses.

Gill, I think it was me calling Frankie fishbreath the other day!

I might tell Frankie's daddy about Plaque Off. In the mean time, I think I'll try some dental treats to see if it makes any difference at all.  :tired:
