Off to the vets soon, Harry has gone back a few steps, we were progressing with him, he was gaining confidence, playing more with Charlie and Wordy. Poppy is fine with him now as well. We have 3 Feliways plugged in.
He is very subdued this last week. Its worrying to see him like it, when he has been doing so well.
I know it may seem odd to be taking him because he has lost his confidence, but we had seen such a change in him.
I don't know if his problem is more to do with Wordy. He can be a bit of a tinker with Harry.

Hope Harry is just ummmmmm being timid
-
Like Gill I do hope it's just Harry being a bit of an introvert rather than anything medically wrong    Let us know how he gets on
-
How did you get on at the vets?
-
We got on ok at the vets thankyou, nothing to worry about, temp was normal, nothing else seems wrong.
Harry was very good at the vets, he purred while being examined and when having his temperature taken. He kept coming up for kisses and cuddles, wouldn't go back in the carrier as he wanted a fuss off of the vet!! The vet said he is a lovely cat.
He is back under the bed again. Charlie is like that as well, so not bothered about them hiding at times, as long as they are happy.
Thanks again.
Nicky and Harry.

;D ;D ;D

That's good news, and nice to know for the future that he loves his vet ;D
I wonder, the dynamic in our house is a little odd at the moment - Tufty (last one in) has been spending more time inside with us as the weather has gotten worse, and it has shifted everyone around a bit. Now Sly spends more time in the kitchen and upstairs than he normally would and Sam has become quite skittish and bullying. Poor Beau, our gentle lad, has been getting it in the neck from both Sly and Sam so has turned quite introvert - rather as you describe Harry. :shy:
So, in short, it might just be down to the weather, a bit of boredom causing your gentle Harry to experience a bit of playground bullying. :-:
I wondered if a sprinkling of zylkene in his food for a few days might help his confidence ? It's usually quite quick acting and has worked well here when I've had introduction issues in the past. Animed sell them individually, so you could buy a few days worth and see if they help?

Think I'll pop one in Beau's food now I'm thinking about it

Pleased to hear he's not poorly in any way :) Funnily enough I was just about to say the same as Sheila... (great minds think alike and all that!).
Do they go out and if so have they been going out less what with all the horrid weather we've been having? My boys haven't been out for probably a couple of weeks and they are definitely fighting more, albeit playfighting the instances have probably tripled at least. Riley can be a bit over-bearing to poor Lu on occasion so I wonder if something similar is going on with Harry?
-
Thanks for you advice and thoughts, I have turned off the Feliway, we are wondering if his sight is impaired in some way, he is wandering around like he is getting his bearings, and if the feliway has masked his own scent it would be causing him problems.
Just a thought.

Hope he is OK

We had to take poor little Harrybo to the emergency vets just before midnight. They have kept him in.
He is not responding to light, he can't see poor baby. He is on a drip and she will let us know how he is about 8ish.
We are in bits, I feel like my heart is breaking.
If he doesn't improve he can have an MRI scan, to see if something is affecting his brain, it may be neurological.
Fingers crossed for my lovely boy please ladies.x

Oh my God, what an awful shock :(
Have everything crossed for young Harry :care:  Please let us know how he is when you hear from the vets
-
Oh no, please get better Harry :scared: :(
-
I have come home from work, as I am useless today. The vet said no change in him, she doesn't expect anything to show up from the bloods. We have to take him to a specialists to get the MRI done asap, she thinks this afternoon.

Sending all my bestest wishes for Harry

poor little harry, i hope you get some answers soon
-
Harry is at the neurological clinic in Winchester, Pete is taking him to the Royal Vetinary College in Hertfordshire tomorrow, so he can have the MRI scan, symptoms apparently could be many things, but the one sticking in my mind is a brain tumour. The vet said its rare in a kitten of his age, 9 months, but he is showing signs of that.

Sending some positive thoughts for Harry

Just wondering if you've had any updates from the vets tonight as to how he's doing?
-
He has some sight and reaction to light. His ultrasound is clear as is the function of his liver. Tomorrow he will have fluid taken from around his brain, and the MRI.
He was very good in the car on the way there, 2 hour drive.

Bless him :care: Sounds like they're being very thorough with all the tests so hopefully you'll have some answers soon and can work on getting him better  Is he insured Nicky?
-
More good vibes

Sending all our best wishes for Harry and his worried parents and siblings xx

Helen yes he is insured, for up to £4000 vetinary fees. Wish we had gone for the higher amount of £7000 when taking out the policy, but hindsight is a wonderful thing!
We have paid out nearly £2000 already. I am just off to get a claim form in to the Neurologists.
We do have other money that we can use if treatment goes over the £4000. Who needs a new bathroom anyway....Harry is way more important than a set of shiny taps and a posh shower.
Waiting for more news, of other tests being one then the MRI, we should know more within the next few hours. We are both devasted for our poorly boy.
The other cats are clingier, Wordy is happier little rascal. He likes being the baby of the family.
Its so hard all this waiting. i feel completely broken by it all. He is such an adorable little cat. Very sweet and loving, all of he vets and nurses say how lovely he is.
Thanks for you thoughts and best wishes.

hoping for some good news
-
Pete has spoken to the top vet dealing with Harry. He doesn't think its a tumour, he has said it could be one of many things, FIP has been mentioned as being the worst case scenario.
Harry himself is brighter today and his sight is getting better, the vet has noticed that he doesn't have so much strength in his back legs, he has never been much of a jumper, more a clamber.
Pete has authorised for them to do the scan, as obviously without that they can't rule out a tumour.
The vet seemed quite positive about the situation. So all we can do is wait some more, as we aren't expecting any more news until later on today.

R.I.P my lovely boy. You were with us such a short time but we love you very much.
Harry had an infection, he would have only had weeks left with us, the vet recommended not bringing him around from the anaesthetic. I new in my heart this was going to happen
