Hi everyone. Lucan is due to leave for his new home soon and i'm worried! I love him dearly and i don't want him stressed out and pining (do cats pine)?
It's definitely the best option that he goes although I'll miss him dreadfully but my other cat is just not happy at all. In your experience do you think as a former stray he'll settle quite quickly somewhere else?
-
I haven't got experience of dealing with strays but most cats settle within a couple of weeks. He might take quicker or longer. He will miss you but I'm sure his new home is lovely so he will be made very welcome :-) *hugs*

From the info in your other thread it seems like Lucan has had a home before. He has settled with you and I don't see any reason why he shouldn't settle in his new home. Is there anything that he can take with him that would be familiar, perhaps something he sleeps on? This might help him in the first few days while he is getting used to the sights and smells of his new home.
I suspect that after the first 24 hours he'll be too busy training his new slave to pine :evillaugh:

Thanks x yes he'll be going with his bed and his scratch box which he adores. I know he'll be fine.....it's me that won't!

Oh I know it will be hard for you. It's tough having to let him go but it's for the best and for mouse. You've given him a wonderful second chance :-)

I'm sure he will settle down very well, thanks to all your love and care. I know you'll miss him but hopefully you'll get regular progress reports. You've done so well by him.

How's it going Caledonia? :care:

Are you meaning with my boy or with Lollycats boy moving on?
My boy is settling more and more but a bit too keen on rough and tumble with my resident cat Nina!
Lollycat is Lupin moved now? Any update? X
-
My boy still here, His potential new owner says she'll collect him on friday............aahh I'm not sure i'll be able to let him go.
-
Sorry, Caledonian - got confused there. :shy:
Lolly! Make two lists: one of pluses and one of minuses, for both you and Lucan, and pin it on the fridge.
Add to them through the week and see how it looks by Friday.
If - outweighs + then reconsider. If not, let him go with the proviso that he can come back if things don't work out with his new mum.
Best to put his needs first. You can always choose another more suitable companion for your resident cat, who will settle nicely, but this might be Lucan's one big chance to find happiness - you don't want to blow it for him. :(

Very very good points Sheilarose - Lupin is getting a chance of a lovely home all of his own here :-)
-
Thanks Sheilarose. I'll do that, there are definitely minuses but i'm choosing not to see them! x

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm Lupin is my cat lol but if you want him ......................maybe I will put him in the auction :-[ :-[

Hope the handover went ok and I've no doubt you will get great progress reports :-)

I hope all went well but understand how upset you are

All went very well, we took him and as soon as we got there he came out of his carrier and had a good sniff around. gave his new slave a few head butts and then had a bit of supper! Apparently he slept ok and is eating well. Good boy Lucan xxxx
-
This is the best possible news. Well done, Lolly. Hope your poor heart heals very soon.

Thanks Sheilarose, I know it's for the best. My mouse came in last night and was looking nervously around for Lucan. Don't think she can quite believe that he's gone.
