Title: Worming
Post by: littleKitten_(alex) on November 24, 2006, 16:06:10 PM
How long does it take before all worms are killed off when a cat has been given worming medication? My new little baby was supposed to have been wormed by his breeder (with Milbemax),  but I just found a worm segment (very alive!) on his bottom. I haven't been able to get hold of the breeder yet to ask her when the worming took place, but will hopefully catch her later today.

So, could it be that the worms just haven't died off yet? Or did he not get his worming pill?

Could be a little of each. Also some of the stronger worm treatments can't be used on the wee ones and you have to wait till they're a bit bigger... I'd wait till the breeder gets back to you and then consult the vet if all is not clear.

What breed is your little'un and who did you get him from? :)

My little Bagheera is half Siamese... he came from a Siamese breeder whose queen had an illicit affair with a dark handsome stranger.  ;D

:Luv: Sounds like he'll be a good-looking little chap!

And I do hope the breeder is making sure that doesn't happen again cos there's enough gorgeous moggies in the world, we don't reeeeeeeally need to make more   ;D

Sometimes worms are little  b :censored: s to get rid of initially, I suggest once you have had a word with the breeder you consult your vet.

Thanks for your advice!

Got hold of the breeder - my little baby had a dose a week ago, but she said to have another one now, so I'll pop to the vet's tomorrow to get some tablets. Hopefully that should sort the stubborn worms out!  :)

The timing between treatments is best discussed with the vet than the breeder.
