Title: Rest Easy, Hugo (AKA Smokey)
Post by: JackSpratt on September 21, 2012, 10:31:16 AM
Some of you may know I managed to secure a rescue space for two ferret kits and cared for them for four days while transport was sorted. I was told by the rescue when they arrived that both kits were malnourished, the smaller one more than  the other.

Sadly, early this morning, the little guy passed away. He had been being syringe fed but the damage was already done.

Rest Easy Hugo. I may not have known you and Victor long, but believe me, I loved you.

He was a total love. He and his litter mate reminded me why I missed having ferrets share my home so much. The little lad was (understandably given his health) the calmer of the two and liked nothing better than to have a cuddle.

The photo is one of his "long term foster/potential permanent home" cuddling him. She had to make sure the ferrets got on with her existing critter. (The ferrets had health checks before going to her, and were being kept separately until their health improved.)

I saw a little of a meteor shower last night; I like to think he had something to do with it and it was his dooking war dance to say goodbye.
