Might need a gentle nudge closer to the time :evillaugh: Not sure if it's a bit short notice to consider doing but one of Ron's volunteers dressed up as a cat and spent an entire weekend living in the pens with teh cats and raised over £1400 :Crazy:

Funding is released at 10am on thurs 6th December, Fri 7th and Sat 8th - not sure of exact % but they relaease about a third each day, so if you want to donate more than say... £2000 ( :rofl:) it may be better to spread it over two days. Sadly, an individual can only donate up to a maximum of £5000 ( :Crazy:).
To ensure the donation is covered by the matched funds, donation should be made as soon as possible. The big give challenge finished on the 16th December or earlier depending on when the matched funding runs out. There is an element of a race as they don't have all the funds to cover the matching over the charities so get in early!
They do say in the blurb somewhere that they will tell you if your donation will be matched so in the event of us getting too many donations and running out of sponsorship, you will have the option of not donating.
and of course you can always just donate regardless of the matching, the project will remain open until the end of next year.....

Honestly Angie, I don't completely understand the whole Big Give thing. I tried to read it through but its not a friendly page :-:
I'd love to be a part of your fundraising but have nowhere near the figures you're quoting on here (and I suspect some others are struggling to interpret this to come within their means as well)
So, for smaller givers, could you tell us in single syllables please, how this works for us teeny tiny donors please? Or are we as "Purrs" putting a Joint Effort together for CovCats?

I think the site tell you if its going to be doubled and if they have run out of money, you can try again fri after 10am or sat after 10am.

This might help to clarify a little..............
What happens when the matching funds run out?
If the matched funds are completely used up on either the 6th or 7th December, the Challenge will pause until more funds are released at 10am on the following morning. When matched funds are not available, a message stating this will appear on the donation page and will encourage you to come back at 10am the following morning when more matched funds will be released. If you wish to proceed in any event, you can still make an unmatched donation. The final release of funds will be at 10am on Saturday 8th December and these funds will continue matching donations until they are exhausted.

How much can I donate during the Challenge?Up to £5,000 will be matched per donor to any given charity. Donations over this amount will have the first £5,000 doubled (if funds are available) and the surplus will be processed as a normal unmatched donation. Please note that the minimum online donation is £5.
It does say somewhere that if funds have run out and your donation is not being matched it will tell you. If that happens, and you still want to give you would be better doing it directly to the Covcats website and not via the BigGive because I've read somewhere that there is a 4% admin charge which is insignificant if they're doubling your donation but acquires significance if they're not. Better still, try again the next day if funds have run out because new funds are released at 10-00 am on each of the 3 days.

So if I want to donate between 5-5000 pounds I go on to the site, ask to donate and if the thingy isn't doing double-up at the time it will tell me to try again the next day.

The funds have run out for today.
The Big Give Dashboard tells me a total of £3525.40 has been passed through the account so total raised for the day is £7050.80 (so £4500 in real money, lol).
This could become very addictive!
So half way through challenge!

Same here, quite nerve wracking actually, you only get ten minutes to enter your address, remember all your payment card details, find your purse, double check all your card details, find your e-mail address, double check your email address then verify your card details, then wait a few seconds while the screen goes blank - then BINGO your donation has been matched! :narna dance:
Phew, it's good to be alive. :phew:

Am at office now and slowly getting over this morning's excitement. I was sitting there waiting for the second hand to reach 12 at 10am and poof me internet went down :grrrrrr: :grrrrrr: :grrrrrr:
We have an intermittent fault and Virgin coming on Saturday to sort it so couldn't do Big Give on Sat; can't do tomorrow as at a client's :scared: :scared: :scared: so had to do today........... so after another tele call to Virgin and clock ticking went upstairs to use OH's office laptop that uses another provider and poof it wouldn't connect :hairrasin: :hairrasin: :hairrasin:
Following a reboot up the bum, it did finally connect and think we just about managed to get matched before it dried up for today :hot!: :hot!: :hot!:

They sent me a receipt by e-mail, so I think you should get one too to confirm the transaction went through and was doubled up. :nice cuppa:

If it says come back in a few mins, just refresh the page until it tells you your donation will be matched :) You then have 10 minutes to do the transaction which I found to be plenty of time as long as internet connection not playing up :shify:

Sooo....... matched funds almost run out but we have hit the target! Thats £14,230.40 that will be sent to us in the next 10 days!!!

This will be spent on the first part of the centre development!
