Never heard of a tablet flea treatment, for worms, I prefer Milbemax, it is a lot smaller than Drontal, and there are only 2 doses, unlike Drontal.

There is one tablet flea treatment thats worth using and thats Capster. It doesnt last 4 weeks like a spot on tho.

I mainly use frontline and drontal, i do milbemax and stronghold every so often, normally when the vets put on a 3 for 2 offer  ;D

Have you a friend who could lend you a set? If you weigh yourself holding Jasper and then again without, you can see how big he is  :)

hmmm. god i'm glad humans dont have to take medicine by weight!!!  ;D

i really cant think of anyone that has scales MM - how weird is that?!?!?!?!!??!!?  i'll ask around a bit.
thanks for the weights lisa!! thats pretty helpful actually  ;D
i do suspect 1 tablet will do him. its all very comlicated though!!! and i find it very strange that vetuk sell them a tablet at a time. anyone know how long roughly these things last? and frotline. dont want t buy 3 tabs and find out they go off in a week!!!

is jasper better at taking tablets rather than having a spot on ?

3 out of my 7 cats r impossibe to get a tablet down them
and they make quite a bit of fuss having spot on treatments to  >:(

one of my cats is an angel taking pills u dont even have to put it in food or down her throat
she just picks it up and swallows it
daft buggar

to be honest i dont think he notices the pills!!!  he's taken them if food before with out a seconds hesitation - greedy boy!!!

we did the spot on and he ended up foaming at the mouth which was pretty scary.  he was ok, and i know it happens, but i was horrible to see.  will just have to practice my application method i guess.  but he's a super clean boy and so just wants to wash it off.  i have to say i'd hate to have to have something similar in my hair, even for that little while.  :-:

Vet uk often give the expiry date of the stock somewhere on the page. When i buy they normally have a couple of years on them  :)
Whats strange about selling one tablet? Thats how vets sell them!

Dont forget to order through the purrs links page so a charity can earn commission  :)

I think theres a min order of £9, but if your buying frontline as well as a drontal then that will be irrelevent  ;D
Im forever buying Drontal, never have the money to buy 100 at once

When you put the spot on on, do it in 2 blobs. It helps to feed a licker straight after too, allows the alcohol to evaporate.

my vet told us that 4kg was averege healthy weight

my molly is 5kg.5
and the vet said she was very overweight  :innocent: "[i nuked the end of this quote, now it's showing as one long quote....sorry, no PC skills]

The specialist vet clinic told me to try not to let a cat get over 5kgs by too much as it places an extra strain on his heart & is more dangerous if he stops eating. Depends also on the size of the cat. 4kg would be too little for a big boned cat. The least my burmese Swamp's ever weighed as a healthy adult is about 4.5kgs.  Before he got ill in Oct he weighed too much - about 5.2kgs (french food lol). One week in hospital on a drip and he went down to 4.4kgs - so depends on the cat.  I was told it's important to give the same amount of food to keep weight stable.
When they were younger, they went on a diet (Hills Diet food) for 3 months and lost weight very gradually.  It's dangerous to be too porky but also to lose weight too fast.

As for giving pills, a fool proof method (er, in theory) is to catch Kitty when s/he is fast asleep, open mouth and drop it down FAST!  I've never had a cat that would touch food with a tab hidden in it. That's for dogs, da enemy  :P
