i bought my cats a lovely scratching post yesterday
i thought it was great value for money too
it was only 15 quid
its got like a little bed at the top of it and it had a ball attached to it on a piece of string
anyway they all love it !!!!! even molly who never plays with nothing was having a good play with the ball and rolling around
within 2 hours they had bitten the ball open and got all the stuffing out of it
lol
but i dont mind too much because to tell u the truth i think it was a bit dangerous having a ball hanging from a piece of string as the piece of string could of quite easily got wrapped round on e of there necks if they played with it during the night when i werent supervising them , so i cut the string off
and as for the ball well thats in a 100 pieces im afraid lol

this is it minus the ball

My cat did exactly the same to her scratching post!! They are obviously not tested enough or realistically for the tough rigours of sharp teeth and claws!!

yea i agree
u would think theyd of made the ball out of plastic of something really wouldnt u
not just foam stuffing

I de-string everything for that reason, they get so carried away! My Zooplus post is standing up well to all the attacks it gets ;D so far.....
Thats a nice post, where did you get it?
-
Mosi destroys most cat toys in minutes. I really don't know what they expect cats to do with cat toys tbh - not use their teeth or claws it seems! I also really notice the difference between cheap and expensive scratch posts. The big ceiling high post I got from zooplus is in a worst state than the expensive one I bought 10 years ago when I got Jaffa (the sisal posts at least).
re balls hanging from activity centres etc. - I agree - I always cut them off. When I got a post for Jaffa and Magpie years ago it had a ball hanging from a piece of string attached to the top platform. Shortly after I got it Magpie was playing with it when it got wrapped around his paw and he was left hanging from it and screaming. As I was in the room at the time I was able to rush over to him and unwrap it straight away but I dread to think what might have happened if I hadn't been there. I now only leave things hanging if the string is very thick and short so unlikely to get wrapped around any paws (or, heaven forbid, necks).

i got it from my local petshop just round the corner
i only went in there coz i was with my little sister and she wanted to go in and look at the hamsters
as soon as i saw it i htought it was good for 15 quid and i grabbed it
i want one of those big ones that are about 6ft though
i just dont know which one to get tbh
-
I would love 1 of these if not bigger but I don't have the room just yet. I'm going to weait until I move in with my fiancee before getting it. Plus I'd have to get him to pay for it

Yep it is.

I had dangly things too. Louis about 3 years ago had his neck caught in the string from my blinds............needless to say they were all modified so it couldnt happen again
Thats a lovely bed fmmb hope your fur babes have plenty of hours of fun
xx

Hey guys,
I would be weary of the Argos posts, the one they used to sell (which I and alot of others bought) was really cheaply made and fell apart!! There was a thread about it on CatChat.
Its definitely not sturdy enough and I would think twice about getting an Argos one again! :pat:
-
thanks for letting me know dawn
i was gonna get the big one from argos but i think now ill go for the one i saw on zooplus :evillaugh:
-
Beware of the zooplus ones too - mine from there snapped in two! ;D

noooooooo! omg
i hope u demanded a refund ?

They sent me replacement posts but it's still in 2 pieces cos they like it like that at the moment! Not staying like that forever though.
Which one is it you're after? Just avoid anything with a hammock that hangs out to the side - the posts aren't strong enough to take them. Most of the designs seem ok and other peeps on here who have zooplus posts haven't had problems. I think it is a design flaw with mine.

ok, that second one is the same as the first one lisa posted!! doh!! might be cheaper though, dont know ;D
-
This is the one I got. The hammock was the problem. The posts are hollow with plastic discs at each end, but the discs only extend about 3 inches into the posts which isn't enough. The weight of a cat in the hammock caused the discs to come away from the posts (they are only attached with staples) and the whole thing collapsed. The 2 you've shown look ok - first one in particular looks sturdy.
