Title: Treats/alternate food to packs
Post by: Bee on March 09, 2012, 15:42:20 PM
Hey All

I know this has undoubtedly come up before but a search for 'food' in the forum is exhausting!  ;D

We feed our girls a mixture of wet Hi-life pouches and purina one dry food following the trial and error of various foods and occasionally we boil some chicken/fish for them.

My question is what treats/non specific cat food do you give your furry faces? I have recently started to think that I don't alternate enough, not that they are complaining... also we moved last year to a place that has excellent little independent butchers and fishmongers which, as a vegetarian myself, I feel I'm not getting the best use of  ;D

Any recommendations that make you babies go wild and love you forever?!!

there are a few people who feed raw chicken wings to keep teeth clean - my lot didn't like them but others report a lot of enthusiasm!

Mine really love pilchards and sardines, I try to buy them in spring water as hopefully they are not as salty. I sometimes get them prawns but only Buffy likes them.

I want to try them on the chicken wings soon as they sound like a great idea for cleaning their teeth.

mine have chicken or turkey most often but also really liked duck, bacon/gammon/ham (which is salty so not often) steak and for fish in particular river cobbler went down really well (nice and cheap!) fresh sardines, fresh mackrall, fresh tuna, prawns and they have had scallops which vanished at a ridiculous speed but theyre also not likely to get again! i generally pick up whatever i can reduced/cheap at the supermarket and they get that for a treat. for regular treats its usually natures menu dried treats

Mine love the turkey thigh chunks from Morrisons  ;) Good size chunks for chewing and helping to keep their (remaining  :tired: ) teeth clean  :)

I buy ours girls roast chicken pieces (about once a month), and white fish and a few prawns (when we're cooking them for ourselves).

And of course, Dreamies and Whiskas Dentibits as treats!

DREAMIES has to be number one  :Luv2:
Temptations
Weebox
Prawns
chicken in any form (Bonnie likes the 100% chicken in white sauce)
Cod, haddock, coley.

I can see your Drum and Bass are in for a feast of delights  ;)
