Came back from work yesterday and was stood outside the house unlocking the door and could hear water going down drain like someone had flushed the toilet, so i thought :shify: has OH been back and gone back out??
Walk into house and its pitch black no electric and i can hear drip drip drip. Walked into kitchen into a massive puddle and dripping on my head, cant see a thing so full on panicing, walk into front room all seems fine go upstairs as i can hear the toilet going and omg!!! Water everywhere!! coming down the stairs everything!
Twix must have jumped up onto toilet to sit on the toilet windowsill and knocked off the cover on the top (where the flush mechanism is) at same time he has knocked my game of thrones book (which for any one who hasnt read it is about as thick as 2 yellow pages put together) into the top of the toilet so the boy gets pushed down which means the top of the toilet has been filling up and overflowing for good knows how long.
So in summary i have a hole in my cieling where the water has come through, no electric until it dries out and no gas because that shut itself off aswell.
Cant stay mad at him though, least he is okay!!

Not the best weather to be without gas and electricity. I hope you can get everything sorted soon.
-
wow that is a lot of damage - lucky he is cute!
-
OMG!
Do you have insurance? If so tell them now.
I do hope you get it sorted quick..................this is my nightmare cos Lupin loves to play around the toilet
-
Thanks guys!
Nope no insurance and am not overly keen on telling landlord as when we moved in asked if it was okay to have pets his words were "yes as long as they dont cause any damage" :-[ and between jess eating the doors and walls destroying carpets and twix doing this.. well fair to say we are never getting our depoist back. Now that it has stopped coming through the ceiling i feel a bit better but have no towels left cos i used them all trying to soak up some of the wet, although im not sure that it isnt going to need some serious DIY will be able to tell more when its dry.
It was my fault really (although that is not what im telling OH) as i forgot to close the toilet door to stop him getting in.
Iv got the gas man coming sometime in next four hours to fix meter so hopefully will have gas soon and be able to dry it out a bit so can use electric, the water has ran down the walls behind the cooker and over three of the electric sockets in the kitchen so i dont dare to try putting it back on, keep having to steal next door for a cuppa
-
I think you will need something like a dehumidifier to dry it all out..........you can probably hire one.
-
Yikes, what a nightmare
-
ooooo never thought of that thanks gill my sister has one ... wonder if the nieghbours will let me use some of there electric until its dry enough to risk putting mine on :sneaky:
-
I know I shouldn't, but
Hope it isn't too expensive and messy to get it sorted out. Are you going to confess to the landlord or get the work done on the sly?
-
no way am i telling landlord! i like my non-homeless status
-
Oh wow! That's a lot of damage from one little kitty. I bet he was in bad books with OH. Men don't seem to be as affected by the cuteness overload.
Hope it all gets fixed soon and your landlord doesn't find out. I'm lucky my landlord has written my cats into my contract and even fitted a cat flap for them. I hate Huddersfield but I love this house and my landlord.
-
Oh no - my boys look tame in comparison now! Hope you get it all fixed ok.
-
Blimey - hope you get it sorted quickly. I sympathise as I have had many a flood in my flat.
The naughty cats are always the cutest (or so Mosi tells me) ;D
-
OMG think you need to change Twix's name to Minx ;)
i do hope you get things sorted soon. I had 2 floods in my house in the first 3 years of moving in - not had any for the last 23 thank God.
Good luck

Its drying out pretty well now got electric on last night and nothing went bang so getting back on track now thankfully.
Think im getting a bit of a OCD about making sure iv closed the toilet door now tho
-
Blimey, what are the odds on all those factors resulting in your flood?!
Hope you get it sorted out and there is no major damage
-
jeez!!
Its like something out of Final Destination! The lid falls off, the book slips in, the toilet overflows, drips on electrics, boom, gas goes off...you couldnt have written that chain of events :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
Glad Twix is ok though...and was probably totally oblivious to whole thing lol
I had a bad flood (not caused by the cats though) my bathroom tap split down the back. Unfortunately i'd been out drinking the night before and when i woke up fuzzy headed and partially sighted and the bathroom carpet was wet I thought the cat had peed on it, as i'd not long moved in :shify: then when i finally realised i tried to turn the tap off but it was Live from the the exploded kitchen light  and you know when scientists give an ape slight electric shocks and they never do it again :shify: not me.....i tried about 5 times to turn the tap off before i clicked
My kitchen looked like a rainforest...misty cos of the live electric etc. I couldnt find the stop fluffybanana, it just went from bad to worse! I also lived alone, so i had to do my helpless woman routine
....fluffybanana?? it changed my word to fluffybanana!?!
Please note: My flood nightmare was not enhanced by my trying to locate a Fluffy Banana instead of the Water Point. I must reiterate, I was not that drunk
-
  i burst out laughing at your fluffybanana and spat tea all over the poor co worker sitting oppisite me
but  all the same for your poor fluffybanana experience
-
Fluffybanana!   :narna dance: that is priceless!!!
I thought you were just too polite to put stop c*ck :shy:
-
Don't worry funkiechicken you're not going crazy... welcome to the Purrs swear filter :naughty:
-

its the best Swear Filter EVER!! :larf:
I can imagine the phonecall to my mate Richard at the time, definitely not had the same reaction crying to him that i needed his help "cos i cant find my fluffybanana anywhere...." he'd have probably directed me to A&E
-

Its great filter and for ages we had a ban on the word chocolate which came up as healthy food :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
Another one is also funny I think but blooming frustrating when you a talking about feeding certain birds and which comes up as Prunes ;D
-
 i personally think that fluffybanana is a much better word
-

Love it!! It certainly would take the 'punch' out of any rant someone might be having
"blah blah...what a prune the fluffybanana...."
People would think know :shify: you're mental :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
It was only when i re-read what I posted that i even noticed!! LOL
