Hello. This is my first post on this board and I'm sorry it has to be such a sad one, but I would like to share a story about a special cat named Sparkey who was killed tragically yesterday afternoon. He wasn't actually my cat, but he had a special place in my heart as I saw him every day. Unfortunately, after I was walking back after work I saw him run in front of a 4x4 and due to his injuries he had to be put to sleep. The whole incident has been so heart breaking, he was such a special cat. So here's to Sparkey, the best cat ever! I'll miss you so, so much :(
I don't have a photo but I will describe him for you: he was a black and white short haired male - very handsome :Luv:

Thank you for all your thoughtful replies, it really means a lot. Yes, it was a terrible thing to witness - every cats lovers nightmare :( And you know the worst thing is the driver didn't even stop. If I had had my wits about me then I could have taken down their number plate, but my first priority was obviously to help the cat...
Anyhow, a bit more about Sparkey. He was a star. I work as a postie and part of my route covers a rather rough housing estate, so I come across a lot of stray, uncared for animals and hence I end up making good friends with them! Sparkey was no exception and, being a black and white cat, he obviously felt the need to take on the role as "Jess" and so would regularly come for a ride on my trolley (much to the amusement of passers by!) He really was a great pal and so affectionate. The sad thing is, his owner really did not care for him and when I told her the news about what had happened, her main concern was the vet bill! >:(
So as much as it was a horror to witness his end, on the positive side I was able to take him to the vet immediately where they gave him pain relief and oxygen, otherwise he could have lay suffering for who knows how long... :(
3 out of the 4 cats I own have been rescued from my "route". Sparkey's predecessor, Megan, can be seen in my avatar (more about her later!)
So that is Sparkey's story. My heart breaks just telling it. Today was SO tough as I had to go back to where he stays. His little buddy named Brodie is lost without him :( I know how he feels!
Thank you all again for your support :thanks:

I am waiting to see if there is a photo of him on the memory card of my old phone (I really hope so!) so I can show off what a brilliant chap he was! He deserves to be remembered. I only hope the "owner" doesn't get a replacement >:( It's a bit of a nightmare situation as she is in the habit of doing so every time she loses a cat to whatever fate comes its way - Sparkey being the second to be hit by a car. It makes me feel guilty/helpless even 'though I do what I can... :'( (I gave his buddy an extra big slice of meat yesterday - he seemed a bit more cheerful). I also had 2 new passengers for my trolley - it's as if they knew how sad I was feeling and came to cheer me up (and they did just that :) )

He will be remembered and is on the Purrs Birthday Bridge Roll of Honour for next year

Poor Sparkey, and poor you having to see what happened (although he was blessed that you were able to help him).
I never understand why some people don't look after their animals.

We also have a couple of things happening on Christmas Eve

Look what I found on the memory card of my old phone!!! I have to admit I cried quite a bit at the sight of him but at the same time I am SO DELIGHTED that I now have a pic to remember him by! :Luv2: :'(
