Mia's having her dental today and the vet called me twice while Mia was on the operating table, firstly to say she had a huge sore under her tounge and her gums were severely inflamed and secondly to say her tongue had started swelling up and she'd only managed to remove teeth on one side of her mouth.
The biopsy is being sent off but the vet only saw her 3 weeks ago and said it wasnt there then so i'm worried.
The vet also was bemused when i said last night she'd been chasing her feather stick toy around and eating plates of tuna as she must be in immense pain :(
Feel awful for her my poor baby
-
   poor baby sending her and you lots of hugs
-
I am so sorry. could she maybe have caught her tongue or gum on something when she was playing
-
I hope its nothing serious  My little BB had a similar lump underneath her tongue, which was also discovered during a dental. The biopsy found it was unlikely to be cancerous, however, a few years on BB had a lump in her jaw, which was an aggressive cancerous tumour - I always wonder if they were linked, or it was just coincidence.
-
So sorry to hear this, I hope it is nothing untoward
-
She's home and eaten a piece of finely shredded chicken, now she's drinking for England. My bedroom door doesn't shut properly so have to sleep in the living room tonight with her to give her peace from the others

Thanks all, I called the vets five times today :-[ and they hadn't received the biopsy results and I now wont know till Wednesday :(
She seems better in herself now though ALL the teeth on her right side have been removed and when she's feeling better the rest will have to come out :'(
-
keeping fingers crossed

-
  I can imagine how deflated you feel after being on tenterhooks for the results. Never mind, renewing all of the positive thoughts, and fingers crossed for tomorrow instead.
She won't miss her teeth too much after a while. I've known a few cats with few or no teeth who've gone on to enjoy a happy and enriched old age, enjoying all kinds of foods (usually those they shouldn't really be eating.. :innocent:) and I'm sure there are many others here who can tell you the same. (Not that I'm saying Mia wouldn't prefer life with her pearly gnashers of girlhood, bless her)
-
Sue's right Liz. The teeth removal is not a huge concern altho might be nice if she could hang on to perhaps an upper and lower canine if poss. Freddie managed really well that way for years. Everything crossed for Wednesday and sorry you are having to wait so long for results
-
Any news today Liz?
-
Good news after me calling twice today :-[ the vet got back to me and said it wasn't a tumour :)
There was granulation caused by scar trauma but the vet said that didn't mean much.
i'm so happy :)
-
:wooooo: that's great news ;D
-

BRILLIANT News Liz :wow:
So Chuffed for ye :cuddle:
-
Opened this thread in trepidation and am so very delighted to hear the news Liz :yayyy: :yayyy: :yayyy:
Now you can concentrate on the much lesser worry of teeth removal at some point which, as I said, was no great problem for our Fred but see if vet will agree to leave at least a couple of canines in place coz Fred found them very useful for grooming etc :)
Meanwhile, hope she is continuing to do well
-
fab news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Wonderful news ;D Algie had to have all his teeth removed and he manages fine :)

Time to change the title methinks :innocent:
-
Great news!
-
Good point about the title, sorry everyone!
The only thing i'm worrying about now is she's not purring much and is sleeping alot, but that could just be because it's finally getting cold but i'll ask the vet when she checks Mia out next week
-
It could be the weather but is she still on any meds, cos that could be the reason?
-
Liz she's hopefully just catching up on her sleep :very Busy:
Mary
