Hello hun hope you and furry are good
-
OMG I couldn't believe my eyes :wow: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:
It's great to see you are back Chrissie and I hope you and the wonderful Charlie are both well.
Bonnie's been ill - had amamary lump removed and thankfully it was not cancerous and since 8th October she's had a problem with her eye that is more or less sorted now - vet is almost certain it's high blood pressure and since she's been on BP tablets she's picked up so go back in a few weeks to see if her BP is down and check her eye.
Hope Charlie's gonna visit the cat's in their special bit. ;)
Mary

How lovely to see you back - please come see us more often!

LOL it is nice to be back:) I am sorry to hear about the lump and hope she does well from now on. Such a worry.

Update on Charlie.
Well he still has a bad case of hyperesthesia. Sadly he has never adapted to his semi confinement with the cat proofing, he spends a lot of his time, on fine days, meowing on his outdoor cat tree:( He is increasingly frustrated by the close proximity of that damn field and, of course, he doesn't understand that he is semi confined for his own safety. He doesn't want to play, just wants to comfort eat and it is a real problem at the moment. You cannot satisfy his appetite and he just gets more and more stressed if he doesn't get the food he wants. He has to lose some weight and I am finding it all very stressful right now:(
-
So sad that Charlie is still suffering......does he eat a lot of biscuits? If so may be worth gradually reducing them and increasing wet food to compensate.
Just a really silly thought............do you think a friend may help?
-
He eats more wet food than biscuits Gill. The behaviourist vet said 200% not to get another cat:(
-
I have some news:) Yesterday I spent some time with our general vet discussing Charlie's problems. He has given me advice re the food issue and thinks if Charlie could have a friend he might improve. A big if. So I think I have found a little girl kitten (aged 5 months) overlooked at the rescue because she is black. Her name is Treacle and tomorrow they will ring me about the home check. I am taking her on a foster with a view to adoption basis so if things disintegrate or it makes Charlie worse, they will take her back (I hope this doesn't happen of course). She is timid with humans but loves to be friends with other cats, she is not dominant so hopefully Charlie will fall in love with her and they will live happily ever after:) I'll keep you posted:)
-
well that is a turn up! hope it all works out for you all
-
I really hope it works out for you all
Bear in mind that at the beginning things are bound to be bad - hissing, growling, spitting etc - doesn't mean they won't become firm friends or even tolerate each other whilst enjoying a rough and tumble
-
I do hope it works out and they both love each other ;D ;D
-
OMG Chrissie - I do hope this turns out to be excellent news for Charlie
Can't wait to see pics of Treacle and hopefully T&C together :Luv2:

An update, the rescue have decided that we sound like the purrfect home for Treacle so they are doing the home check on Sunday and bringing her with them:) She will be neutered tomorrow too. I am so hoping this works out for us all so please send us your positive thoughts. I will post pictures as soon as I can:)

Little update:) Treacle has now been neutered and microchipped and will be here on Sunday late afternoon. All advice about introducing Charlie and her would be welcomed with open arms, it is 20 years since I introduced cats to each other:) Have to say I am 98% excited and 2% nervous about it.
-
Good luck Chrissie - my fingers and Bonnie's paws are crossed for you all.

How's the prep going for Treacle?
Has Charlie cottoned on yet :catplay2:
-
Well Treacle is here now. She is currently in a large pen - she is very tiny:) Anyway initial introductions went well I think. She hissed a couple of times at Charlie and he backed right off. He has shown absolutely no aggression to her, no hissing, spitting, puffing himself up, nothing, just curious. He has sat at the side of her pen and she has stopped hissing. They have both had turkey and she has been washing herself. Much better than I thought it would be:) I'll keep you posted.
-
sounds promising!
-
Aaaw bless - I do hope it carries on well. :Luv2:

Here here. :)
-
I can't believe how good this is going. Let Treacle out of the pen for an explore and she and Charlie were rubbing noses and she was headbutting him:) I am amazed at how good they are both being. She has been running round familiarising herself and he has been following her. Then she followed him:) He has been chirping at her too. Hopefully the start of a life long friendship.
-
:wow: I didn't know you'd got another puss! fingers tightly crossed here that this will help Charlie. Treacle is lovely btw :Luv2:
-
Hello You
I've not been on purrs for a long time myself but popped on this morning and see you here.
Charlie and Treacle's introduction sounds like ours with Jess & Milo, was the best thing we ever did for Jess in the end :Luv2:
-
sounds like they are going to be good mates!
-
:wow: Chrissie that's brought a tear to my eye - I hope this carries on as it will be so good for Charlie's health and a fantastic life for Treacle - don't forget to get pics asap ;)

It's looking VERY promising!
-
Oh myyyy that sounds great and am sure it will help Charlie ;D ;D

Morning all purrs pals
Just a little update. Treacle had to go to the vet yesterday:( She was already on antibiotics for a little cold when she came and unfortunately her fosterer forgot to bring them so has posted them to me. However Treacle had a flare up with a runny nose and sneezing so best be safe. Anyway she had a slight temperature and has now been given a new course of antibiotics. She is, however, bright as a button and her and Charlie have been running round playing together this morning. She has a hearty appetite and is weeing and pooing well. Charlie is transfixed! I am so happy that things have moved forward between them so well and so quickly and thank you all for your lovely support, as ever.
Chrissie xx
-
This makes me so happy to read and you must be over the moon.
I hope treacle gets better soon.
-
:wow: Chrissie that's fantastic. If they are playing together even when Treacle isn't 100% then what are they gonna be like when she's better :Luv2:
It's just the best news ever for Charlie after what you have both been through for a very long time.

hello maddiesmum !!
I was briefly told of Charlies story and the introduction of little Treacle by Gill (which is amazing by the way :Luv2: so pleased for Charlie!!) as I have been having problems with my lad (i posted for advice on the General Cat Chat re: Nuggie) and Gill said that the introduction of a new friend may well be Nuggies next step. Not sure he would take as well as good ole Charlie mind!! - but a companian sometime after xmas might be good - and your story proves that some cats just need feline company.
Anyway :thanks: i'm pleased i read your post and it has reassured me that ultimately i may be doing the right thing. Nuggie was 5 weeks when introduced to his 4yr Big Brother (that wasnt plain sailing either lol) and now Tazi has made his way to the bridge ( :'( ), Nuggie isnt doing so great. But its given me a little hope ;D
....and Treacle is just gorgeous!! :Luv2: :Luv2:
