It's Oct 23rd, we live in an urban village so WHY are there full on fireworks at 9.15 pm tonight?
Sam and Sly are wide eyed and upset, Chubby refuses to come out from under the garden bench (alright he usually stays out there anyway, but on TOP of the bench), Tuffs has gone missing entirely and Theo hasn't been seen either.
Pursley and Beau are under the bed, God (or Allah) only knows what time this will finish tonight.
Sheesh. >:(

I live in a rural village and we have a new family moved in since last year, so am hoping no fireworks as usual, just in the distance will do nicely!
So sorry the cats are so upset and there is still two weeks to go to the 5th but know that the Hindu festival comes around end of October, forgotten the name again.....sigh

Festival of Light Diwali October 26th this year.
:sorry:

Sorry you and the cats are suffering with fireworks Sheilarose. There isn't by any chance a Libyan community near you who could be celebrating their country's independence is there. I know there are losts of celebrations up and down the country.

Something to be said for living in the middle of nowhere with neighbours close at hand haveing no kids, we see some from about 3 miles away so we have now worries for the Clan cats and dogs
Sending  that they missing kids come home soon

Diwali, thanks.
Yes could be Libyian celebrations but also closest weekend to Diwali.

We have had fireworks going off on odd occasions as well. Abigail is very scared of them and hides behind the sofa. We have to turn the tele up and sit on the floor with her to try and sooth her. It is no longer one night a year when you have to be worried about your pets.

We were expecting fireworks for Diwali since Friday. Nothing on Friday, one or two on Saturday and nuffink again on Sunday :-:. We were all prepared... Dinah even under lock down and a damp squib. Not complaining though ....

We live on a main road near town! Got 2 cats and a dog that howls at the door :( I like fireworks but sometimes pets come first.
Have you tried feliway diffuser. Also theres a new capsule tablet call Zylkene, supposed to calm them down during firework season.
At Diwali there are fireworks going off ten to the dozen by us!! never bothered us until we had the dog, he starts barking and then the cats go bonkers too!!! :( I feel like letting a bomb off saying BE QUIETTTTT!! hehe... :Luv:
Hopes your cats feel safe soon. :)

Well the fireworks have started here now poor little Fudge and Ariel were so scared bless >:(
Dont get me wrong I do love a good fireworks display but they should be kept to the main parks not right outside peoples houses in the street in this day and age they should be for the use of professionals only not just any body I have heard to many stories of fireworks being used in the wrong way .

We have had them every night (and during the day too) for a while now. One positive of Jaffa being deaf now is that he can't hear them! The past few years he's been a bit stressed about them and has developed cystitis as a result so I have started to dread this time of year, but this year he can't hear them and is sleeping blissfully through them ;D Mosi doesn't mind them too much but last night he was sleeping in his cat tree den and kept popping his sleepy head out the top in disgust at being woken ;D
