Title: Sister woes
Post by: MeuzettesMom on September 23, 2011, 23:18:03 PM
My sister lives on a farm.
You think cats would be safe there. No. Not between the cat killing road. Their neglect.
I learn last summer she left her favorite cat out in a barn with no food or water in the 120 degree heat. Accident yes. But how can you let him leave your sight for two days and not go out looking for him?
I have taken six cats away from her. But she works for a vet and can get more faster than I can take them away.
She can get any from the Humane Society she sees. She thinks she is helping these cats. Death or her. I suppose.

Your mention of the Humane Society sounds like you are in the States?

Afraid my opinion of them is the same as the RSPCA in this country and they put so many animals to sleep its unbelieveable.

If thats the standard of someone who works at a vet, I am pleased that I dont use that vets, sorry

Oh yes sorry. I live in the states. I agree with your views on the Humane Soceity. Reminds me of someone else who rounded up people and slautered them.
My sister is not thinking about... something right. Maybe that is how offical people think?
BTW., the cat in my avatar is one of the cats I took away from her

If you know of anyone mistreating animals they should be reported.

Tend to agree. If an animal is being cared for in a less  than acceptable way, you approach the person if you can and discuss it with them. But if you can't you report them. I've had to have conversations with people about stuff like this and it makes me feel like a know it all who's being a total control freak. But I know if I didn't say something I'd feel a thousand times worse because the animal wouldn't be getting what they should. I made the mistake of assuming people would get better at animal care in the past and the animals suffered because of it, so I couldn't do it again. Hope you figure out a way to approach this.

The humane Society I guess - might at least stop her getting given cats from them if concerns are voiced.

I think the ASPCA is the equivalent of the RSPCA?

I think if the OP has a word with folk who give her sister cats on a regular basis it's one less avenue that the cats will be coming from. If they aren't cared for properly you aren't helping them anyway, are you really? Best of intentions and all that.
