Parki adopted us three years ago. She is 11 and came with sun damaged ears. :(
Tomorrow she is having her ears removed as the skin cancer is worsening and cannot be managed any more.
Would appreciate your thoughts and good vibes

The vet phoned me after lunch,at work, to say op went well. She had been given some more pain relief and I have to phone at 4.30 to see if she needs to stay longer or I can collect her.
Feeling very emotional but all your support has helped so much.
-
Hoping Parki can come home today. :)
-
That's good news, the vet probably wants to wait to see if she's come round enough from the anaesthetic to be allowed home.
Glad the op went well.
-
Sending lots of good vibes and sure Alison is either visiting Parki or has her at home and is looking after her
-
:thanks:
I was able to pick up Parki just before 6pm. The veterinary nurse was lovely and caring. She warned me before Parki came out and said her head?face had been shaved and her fur was a bit messy. They were pleased with how the wound is healing.
It was a shock to see my little girl. She had been given a morphine like drug so has been quite relaxed at home. She hates her lampshade and cannot have a soft one for a few days. She is scratching at it frequently.
Parki has drunk plenty and also eaten and I am now hoping she will get some sleep. She is attached to me and will not let me out of her sight.I will be sleeping downstairs for next few nights.
She is going back to vet Monday and then in 10 days. I have some metacam to start tomorrow. The stitches are dissolveable.
Thank yo all once again
I am so glad it is all over
-
Onwards and upwards
-
Parki well on the mend today, its amazing how well the wounds are healing.
Archie brought her a get well present of a mouse during the night
She hates the collar but it s only a few more days until she can have a soft one ;D
-
Great news, it's amazing how quickly animals recover from things that would knock a human sideways for six months!
-
Brilliant ;D
-
Really glad the op went well and that Parkie is doing well sending get well vibes to Parkie and   to you.
Denise
-

Parki has had a good night and ears healing so well ;D
She has just had her Loxicom so will help her to relax and hopefully stop scratching the collar
-
Glad she's doing well. Hope she can get rid of that lampshade soon! ;D
-
So do I :) :thanks:
-
So pleased she is doing well.
-

-
:thanks:
-

-

-
Thank you very much
-
Feeling so down and very worried about Parki :(
I left OH and son to look after Parki whilst I went out and when I got back they told me she managed to get her collar off. She then scratched a few stitches out :'( She was doing so well too.
Just come back from vets and Matthew is keeping her in and will restitch in morning.
He is sending her home with a collapesable collar this time.
Parki is really down and just hope she will be ok.
-
I am so sorry Alison but sure she will be OK
Please ask Sue for some space under her patio to bury your son and OH........what were they doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Thanks Gill
I will ask Sue for some space and feel very, grrrrrr >:( to say the least.
-
Oh no, poor Parkie :( I hope your OH and son are feeling suitably guilty.
-
Oh is very upset and so he should be. Son has offered to do more cat sitting later in week :scared:
-
-
Poor Parki :care: Hope she bounces back
-
Sorry to hear this Alison  Poor Parki :(
-
Oh dear! I'm sure that Parki will be fine though
-
:thankMatthew left message to say when he looked at Parki this morning her ears were healing over nicely so no stitching today. He suggested they keep Parki in for two days to monitor her ears and to keep them safe.
I think this is a very good idea although I will miss her so much. Will phone back Matthew later to discuss.
-
So pleased that Parki is OK and she has healed so quick its wonderful, I think she may be safer at the vets rather than with your OH and son! :innocent: :innocent:
-
Good news that the ears are healing so well :) Bet your OH and son are relieved to be let off Parki sitting duty :evillaugh:
-
:evillaugh: You bet to both of your comments :evillaugh:
Matthew will phone me tomorrow for an update ;D
-
Hoping Parki is still doing well. :)
-
Sending lots of healing hugs to darling Parki xxx
-
Thank you.
Parki now home and much happier as she was not eating at vets.
She was very good at vets during the day but at night she managed to get collar off two nights running :shify:
Ears are healing but she has managed to get collar off three times since she has been home :tired:
-
Oh Parki :innocent:
So pleased she is home and wating
-
I hope Parkie is not doing much damage to her ears when she gets her collar off
-
Sending every good wish (and a few finger wags for collar removal :no no: ) to our lovely girl and hoping mom is getting some sleep and not worrying all night
-
Got to love that girl obviously the nasty collar isn't this years fashion must have and can not be seen in such a disaster
-
Liz think you have a point :evillaugh:
Collar stayed on all night but was scratched off twice this afternoon :scared: She managed to nick her one ear but generally they are healing ;D
-
Sending lots of  to you and Parki
-
:thanks:
Collar still on this morning ;D She has managed to scratch it off once since getting up :)
-
Good it stayed on over night so maybe its more irrating than the ears now. :shify:
-
Parki was very unsettled last night so gave her a dose of metacam. Feel guilty in one way as she has been very sleepy all day but her ears are healing up really well
-
As far as I know metacam doesnt make them sleepy , although Duchas doseage was quite small.
Could be she hasnt been sleeping properly cos of her ears and now the pain is gone she is catching up........maybe she needs regualr doses of it for a few days cos cats hide the pain so well.
-
You have a very good point there Gill, thanks.
Wondering if loxicon and metacam are the same thing :shify:
-
Can't find Loxicon on NOAH Alison :-: Thought I'd have a quick peek whilst waiting for Boris' fish to cook .........
-
Oh dear its Loxicom :-[ :-[ :-[ :shy:
It does seem similar to metacam :)
-
Yes ... from googling it's an NSAID (painkiller) but have never heard of it before and not listed in NOAH. I thought NOAH listed all prescription drugs :-:
Hope she is doing well today Alison  Boris rather likes fissshhh it seems :)
-
I think this is the answer
Loxicom is a ‘generic’ which means that Loxicom is similar to a ‘reference veterinary medicine’ already authorised in the EU (Metacam). Loxicom is ‘bioequivalent’ to the reference veterinary medicine which means that Loxicom is equivalent to Metacam in the way it is absorbed and used by the body.
I know my Gower vets tried to sell me an equivalent to metacam and I told them no and they werent amused, said I wanted the real thing. The annoying thing was that I had ordered metacam and they had it on the shelf.
-
Thats interesting to know :shify:
Parki still has collar on ;D Ears healing really nicely now :)
-
Pleased that ears are healing well ;D
