Unexplained sudden death of Rufus 21st July. Still perfect - just forever asleep. Had a a lovely long cuddle with him the night before, thankfully. Brother Quinn was heartbroken to lose his pal and still misses him, following me everywhere. RIP little friend.

Thank you Gill. I had actually stayed up until nearly one in the morning that evening just to be with him as we were just so cosy snuggled up on the settee together. He had absolutely no signs of ill health yet he died in the night. He didn't come in for his breakfast and my neighbour called to say she had found him in her garden. I will always treasure that lovely evening with him as well as remembering all the good times and fun we had together. It has been very quiet without Rufus and Quinn chasing each other through the house!

So very sorry to read this :hug: Rufus may have had a short life but as he was born in care and then went to your wonderful home he only ever knew happiness. Please give Quinn a gentle hug from me

Teresa, so wonderful to hear from you and sorry to hear you were not very well. Hope you are feeling better. :hug:
Your words echo my Mum's. Yes indeed Rufus had a very happy life and was very popular. So many people commented on how handsome he was and his beautiful colour. Though still more nervous than Quinn (who has befriended everyone in the street) he had come out of his shell and was very loving. He loved to lie on his back on your lap, legs curled up to chin (playing on the cuteness factor) while having his head stroked. He was an amazing hunter and brought home numerous catches! Somehow they seem to evade Quinn and there has been neither mouse or vole in the house since Rufus died.
As a precaution I am taking Quinn to the vet for a health check next week, just in case he is at risk. No point in taking him before as he was just pinning so much. He has settled more now but I do think he misses Rufus. I have given him a hug from you.

Thank you Sheilarose. It has been amazing to read such lovely caring comments from people I haven't met and from people who have followed Strudel, Rufus and Quinn's story. I guess we all share that empathy on losing a beloved pet. Thank you all. x
