Title: Cat memorial?
Post by: jetcleo on August 20, 2011, 20:13:34 PM
As some of you may have read i've recently lost my 2 babies - Jet was pts in July and Cleo on Thursday with kidney failure (possibly through anti-freeze poisoning)

I would like to get something to remember them by but am struggling and wondered what any of you have done.  I do have a lovely photo of the two of them together which i've framed but i was thinking either some jewellery or a garden ornament / house ornament but can't find anything i like

 :thanks:

I don't know if this company is still in operation as it was over 4 years ago now I ordered from her but I had a lovely handmade box made with photos of Tiggy after I lost her...

If you had the cats cremated, or if you have some hair of them, there are lovely cat's paw pendants to keep it in, and there are garden ornaments, too.
In the Netherlands there are several webshops selling them, and you could also have a ceramic artist make a statue of your own cats.
I have statues some of mine, both of living cats and rainbow cats. I order them from Irene Maas in Alkmaar, but there must be artists in the UK who can make things like this, too.

Thanks everyone, i love the sleeping cat outdoor ornament as my two had their favourite place in the garden so it would look lovely there but will definately look online to see if anyone can make a statue / ornament of my two

 :thanks:

I have been looking for Ollie too. I know I want to buy large ceramic pot which I will an inscription put on and  an flowering evergreen for her. I was thinking I would put her ashes in with it but my husband found some lovely wooden cat shape urns so not sure now. I know she would like to be close by us but not just stuck indoors. I miss her so much keep calling her for dinner, guess it will be a while before I get used to her only being here in spirit now (

Teresa, that sounds lovely, i miss my two as well, i was just starting to accept that Jet wasn't around then lost poor Cleo!! I keep thinking that i've heard or seen one of them outside.  They are such an important and big part of your life, you don't realise how big until they've gone.

Have you checked Ebay? Surprisingly there are quite a few nice things on there. Just type pet or cat memorial into the search bar.

I actually got the gravestone for my Lily from Ebay when I lost her last year. It's really good quality too, black marble with gold writing.

I got a couple of lovely cat statues from a website called garden4less to commemorate our two lovely old girls who we lost within a year of each other.

They are a pair if stylised siamese looking stone cats and are really elegant and look wonderful in the garden.

When I was looking I felt that there was quite a gap in the market for reasonably priced garden cat statues. Most of the statues I found were comic cutesy types...

Any budding sculptors out there?

Jo

I have a Egyptian cat god statue (Bastet) in the garden, on the spot where I buried Jiskefet.
That might be an option, too.....
