Rang the rescue lady at lunch to arrange the time for dropping Sally off tomorrow, got home a bit late, and hadn't been back 5 mins when I got another phone call from her asking if I could call in at the vets on the way. Not a prob, said me - to be told it is to pick up a cat that is coming here!! Throws my day out completely, but hey ho, it was left at the vets due to some change in circumstances, I actually can't remember the full reason why, but the poor thing has nowhere else to go. But, on the positive side, it is a pale ginger - one of the colours I have never had as an adult, and one of my favourites, so am really excited!!

As one door closes ... another one opens! ;)
Well done for taking "ginge" in :)
-
aye, just a bit quick for my liking, not quite sure how I am going to fit in blitzing the room between cats!! Good job Shabba doesn't like the cat room, as the plan was to see if he woudl accept being in there, but am not going to bother now - we know this cat was brought in with dirty ears, will find out tomorrow if he will need anything for them.
-
Actually I have just realised the irony of what I am going to do tomorrow!! Most people go to vets for meds etc, or to pick up one of their own cats, going to one that isn't your own specifically to pick up an unwanted cat isn't the normal reason for going!! And then, i am going to the rescue, but bringing him back with me - such a shame the vets are only there an hour on a Sat, or I could have got him on the way back. Mind you, when I rang the vets for Tiger's x-ray results, I got offered a cat too!! And, I am getting some paperwork tomorrow, i think my 'job description' got longer last night!! Will need to give up work at this rate to do the rescue stuff.

Found out his story - his owners moved out and left him (second one i have heard of this week, we were full when asked about the first one though), a little old dear was feeding him, but is moving next week, no one else wants to take over, so he would have been left on the streets. He has a very bad case of ear mites though, unfortunately, the vets have cleaned them, jabbed him and something else, and given me ear drops for the next two weeks. He is so sweet though, and not too bothered about being in the room, some of them go bonkers, but I think he might just be glad to be inside on a nice comfy bed (well, a wooden shelf with a piece of old carpet on at the mo!!). Here is the first pic of him, he has no name yet, I am waiting for a friend to come up with it.

His name is Pumpkin.
-
Awwww he is gorgeous :Luv:
-
awww he is so handsome :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:
-
Des he looks quite at home and has a greatful air about him.
Love the pale gingers we had our darling Haggis and now have Lynx who is very light, Haggies was blonde ginger.
Look forward to updates and more piccies, we were offered a dog at the vet today but had to say no as it was a girl - our little Jaz only likes boy dogs! :-:
-
He is lovely - he has let me stroke his belly a few times, and loves headbutts, and has found the catnip toy, so went bonkers over that (moved that before I left the room!!), and then had a good play session, and has eaten well too - he looks a decent size, but you can slightly feel his ribs, so he might need a small amount of building up. He does look more ginger in that pic than he does in the flesh.
-
My favourite colour of ginger and reminds me of Gingerbread from London ;D ;D
-
He is absolutely beautiful Des :Luv:
-
I know - and guess what, no white on him at all!!! Although his fur is pale, so might be worse than a cat with white on him!!
-
He is lovely. What a handsome guy!
-
He's gorgeous :Luv: I am a bit biased though - rather partial to gingers ;D
Do you know how old he is, Desley?
-
Did I not say?? he is 6 apparently. Got a very feminine miaow though, bless him!!
-
Aww he looks and sounds lovely. I am sure he will find a great new loving home really soon.
-
Poor Pumpkin is going bonkers in his room at the moment, but I am going to have to be strict with his isolation period due to his earmites. Poor baby boy!!
-
Poor Pumpkin. How many days of ear mite isolation has the handsome chap got left?
-
Awww Pumpkin he is gorgeous ...how long does he have left in isolation ?..are the others sensing him ?
Can not believe how busy you are at the moment ..it is mad !
-
He has two weeks of ear mite meds, and I isolate for 2 weeks anyway. Although I got home tonight, and was surprised by Lucy's reaction, she was looking into the front room, and we normally have a bit of interaction through the window before I come in. I suspected something wasn't quite right, so was very careful when I opened the door - and found Pumpkin sat in the front room, the little minx had managed to open the door!! Been fostering for nearly 3 years, and he is the first to have managed that one!! Did give the vet a quick ring to see how contagious ear mites were, so am keeping an eye on my lot - Lucy is going to be done with stronghold this week, my two were Frontlined last week, vet says I can Stronghold this week, but am going to watch them instead. Next two weeks are going to be fun I think!!
-
What a gorgeous little boy and so lucky to have found you - I cannot believe people that just leave them behind. My neighbour is taking her five 350 + miles when she moves this weekend.
-
Thanks Chris - I wish more people would be like your neighbour.
-
Awww Desley he is absolutely gorgeous ... I want I want :evillaugh:
My son is at college and the family he stays with have a Pumpkin too and looks just like your Pumpkin :Luv:
Please give him lots of cuddles from me and Susan xxxxx
-
Pumpkin is absolutely gorgeous, and
clever cheeky little monkey for breaking out of his room!
-
Bless him - he sounds so adorable. That's ginger boys for you! I can't understand how anyone could abandon him just like that.
-
Clare - I wasn't impressed at that last night - if he hadn't had earmites, it wouldnt have bothered me at all, but dont want to end up treating everybody for them!! Although I prob would get away with Stronghold if they did, as it would be so early. He had me up twice during the night, and I had to go and comfort him twice before I Went to work cos of going mad, but he hasn't been too bad tonight, and I at least found him still in his room!!
-
We had a good night last night, no fuss (well, a slight amount from Shabba!!) - it is one of the downsides to doing it in your home, you can't always ignore the noise when it is in the house!! Some more pics

awwwwwwww he is such a stunner :catluv: :catluv: :catluv:
-
Aw, more lovely piccies - he's a very handsome boy ;D
-
His name is Pumpkin.
And what a FABULOUS one he is Des. He's a stunner, poor little man. how can they move and just leave him????????? :censored:
So pleased you have him Des, he looks quite content in the photo, so like you say he's is happy for a safe warm comfy bed, bless him xxxx
-
Aw - Desley, he's gorgeous! He sounds like he's settling in with you really well, and he looks so playful in the photos. Hoe those earmites are all dying a death and the others manage not to catch them. Think Pumpkin could be a right character by the sounds of it!
-
He isn't appreciating the isolation, poor mite, but other than that he is happy. I hope he can find a home quite quickly really, i hate it when they struggle with a home after being outside.
-
I echo Gail's comments. I don't understand how people can go off and just leave their cats behind when they move. I've known two people who acquired cats through exactly those circumstances (without really intending to!) my sister being one of them. I don't get it. Hope someone lovely out there is waiting for playful Pumpkin. Sending him a kiss :blow kiss:
-
i dont either, esp not someone as lovely and playful as him.
-
Can't wait until next weekend, poor Pumpkin is crying a lot at the moment with being in isolation. i am going to take him to the vets with me on Thurs to make sure he is fine before I risk letting him near mine, dont fancy treating 5 for ear mites!!
-
Pumpkin went to a fab new home this week - he was funny though, the lady was holding him, and her bf was ignoring him, as Shabba wanted a fuss, so Pumpkin kept stretching his head towards him to get fusses from both at the same time!! I thought he had only been here 3-4 weeks though, seems I have lost time, as it is nearer 5!!
-
Yay, way to go Pumpkin :yesss: Hope you love your new forever home, and well done Desley ;D
-
:evillaugh: One of our toms does that.
Glad Pumpkin has gone to a brilliant forever home. :) Well done, Desley.
-
Thats great, i thought he wouldnt take too long! Good luck pumpkin you handsome boy :Luv:
-
It is - they are changing his name to KEith!! I thought he wouldnt' take too long, and only said on Sat I was surprised he was still with me. Just need Shabba to find a home now, although 9 weeks isn't really that long either.
-
There's always time to take him back you know ..... Keith indeed
That would always remind me of Keith Chegwin :shify:
-
:-) Ironically, I had another call for him lst night, they are going to consider Shabba instead!!
-
I'm glad Pumpkin has a new home ;D I like the name Pumpkin better than Keith though!
