A kitten has survived after being stuck in a washing machine cycle for 50 minutes in Aberdeen.
Susan Gordon, owner of eight-week-old Princess, assumed her pet was elsewhere but opened the washing machine to find her bedraggled and clinging to jeans ....... (read more)

Was just going to say the same Dawn. Even so I ALWAYS check before closing door. Our washing machine is built in so they don't get to see it spin round so are not interested thankfully.
Poor little mite :( :( :(

awwww poor little thing must be traumatised after that .........
-
I feel sorry for the owner as well ..... it must have been terrible to think you've just put your new baby on a wash cycle.
-
OK I hold my hands up to this one ....GUILTY !
My Missy did about 10mins of a 40d wash when she was about 12wks old.......
She survived after a dash to the vets and some adrenalin

We have to watch Archie he has tried the tumble dryer, fridge, dish washer and washing machine >:(
-
I knew a 12 week old white kitten who died as a result of this, it was the detergent that poisoned her.

You must have been distraught .......... Nightmare! Kittens are devils for sniffing out dangerous stuff

The same happened to my colleague's kitten.
Fortunately, her daughter saw the cat spinning round and called her, so the little mite only spent about 10 mins. in the machine.

i am completely cautious and paranoid about this , i check 2 or 3 times thats theres no1 in the machine by pushing the clothes down and when the doors shut counting the cats , some might thinkits a little over the top but its better to be safe than sorry , poor wee mite at least she survived :-: although some of mine would also struggle to fit lol xx

Found Sylvester inside the fridge last week..... :-[
He'd popped in after some chicken while OH was making a sandwich, then OH just shut the door with his elbow...
Luckily I was hungry too!

Just had mini heart attack  As I had shut the door on the washing machine, I was thinking of this poor little mite and, esp as young boris only arrived last night, even though I could see him in the hall I opened machine and put my hand in................ and felt something furry :o It was the radiator bed cover :-[

Haha Rosella, you got the new kitten blues already!
Over the years I've variously washed cameras, gameboys, wallets, shoes, mobile phones, wads of cash and the occasional piece of clothing in between.
So many times I've been convinced that a cat was seen to go in and not come out, I've unloaded the machine two or three times in panic, only to find the "missing" culprit sitting directly behind me mugging at his pals.
Every single one of my cats has visited the inner workings of the machine, luckily to be spotted before the door was shut and the dial turned, so, there but for the grace of God, go I.
What is it about that dark, soggy, chemical-smelling place they find so compelling? Usually you can't bribe them into a nice warm fluffy cat bed that cost you a weeks wages, never mind a cold, dark, wet hole? :-:

This happened about 20 miles form us, me I am paranoid about our 2 washing machines and the 2 tumble dryers as our mob like a hidey hole so we now have beds on top of the tumble dryers for them to sleep in and I check every load and have emptied the machines on many occassions and Harvey our large tree hugger has had a 2 min spin on the tumble dryer till Oh noticed he came out unscathed but never again - Harvey was 3 on that adventure
