Title: bob martin flea treatment killed my kitten, please help
Post by: voice4cats on July 27, 2011, 10:19:19 AM

hi just signed up to this as you have been suggested to be the place to help me.i have just lost one of my two kittens after applying bob martin flea treatment for kittens and cats..within minutes they were both fitting and foaming at the mouth,on arrival to the vets i was concerned that they were already aware of the effects of this product..as they have seen the results many times.i am trying hard to make owners aware of the product and also trying to get the company to re package due to the details of what can happen not being on!!! all comments and suggestions would be helpful..thanks for your time  :thanks:

A lot of things that should have a warning don't. This is one of them, as is lilly plants from a garden centre. I firmly believe anything like that should make people aware of the severity of what can happen if they have animals.

I'm so sorry for your losses. :(

Have you tried the local media? Or even the national press?

i know,i am so shocked myself at the support that we are getting,we have over 500 members in just over 3 days and if you think that IF  only half have had a experience with bob martins thats terrible and then atleast the other half have been made aware and many pets have been saved..thats just how i look at it,the numbers may be completely different.

what I actually mean is - is there a particular ingredient within the treatment that is causing the problems as presumably it will be contained within other products as well?

Just looked it up, these are the ingredients:  Margosa Extract 3% w/w, Ethyl Butylacetylaminopropionate 9.8% w/w, Diethylene Glycol Ethyl Ether 86.95%
- don't know which of those would be responsible, or maybe the combination is lethal?

I said this before -  we need retailers to stop stocking it, shouldnt we be targeting them as well as the public?

Definately the retailers should stop stocking it  but if the message to pet owners can be got across in very large numbers this will help force their hand.

The sad thing is that vets know there is a problem but they are not doing anything about it and would have thought they have somewhere they can report this.

The ingredients for frontline are in this link and very different, havent got a stronghold pack to hand so dont know what those are
