Title: Sudden oily coat
Post by: Leanne on July 25, 2011, 21:45:58 PM
I noticed tonight whilst giving Jess a good stroke that his coat seems really oily, his always had dandruff like flakes of skin come off when you rub him hard and lots of hair always comes out but tonight his coat feels different.

His also been sick twice tonight. Not sure whether the 2 are related.

His not been frontlined for about 3/4 weeks.

Any ideas or thoughts?

I should add he seems fine in himself and isn't off his food.

If he goes out sometime sitting under a car can cause this, our Whiteboy Echo showed us this trick I nearly had heart failure but it washed off just fine with babyipes

Maybe if he's feeling a bit under the weather he's not been grooming himself properly?

Thanks guys, he doesn't go out so can't be oil.

Hubby said he feels like he is sweating if that makes sense.

He was sick again last night after his late dinner so that was 3 times in 4 hours.

His just had breaky so I'll see if that stays in him if not we'll be of to the vets.

I would pop to the vets anyway better to be red faced than have a sick cat

Well breaky stayed down and he seems fine in himself this morning.

If there is sick when I get home tonight I'll take him to the vets if not I probably won't bother.

Have spoken to vets at work and ordered some katalax in case there is a fur ball, vet also suggested his coat could be because his feeling a bit unwell, he is drinking though and was up at 3am playing with a mouse and a ball so his not lethargic in anyway

Is your cat drinking a lot? This happened to my Tia, and she was diagnosed as diabetic. I now have her on a supplement for skin and coat, as well as insulin, and her fur has returned to its former glory!
