just thought i would introduce you all to the visitor we have had for the past week. Pacey is a male persian who is 4 years old. sadly he has been shaved this week by my vet as his fur was so matted he struggled to move freely. though he looks abit of a sight now, he feels loads more comfortable and we'll keep on top of his grooming when his fur does grow back. his previous owners had kept him as an outdoor cat so this has probably got alot to with the state of his fur. he is also abit underweight but he has a healthy apetite and is trying to eat us out of house and home ;D

aww bless him, he will send a shiver down Gillian's spine I should think! he is lovely Lau - how many have you got now, I know you have lots passing through
-
i think we are 19 in total across 3 houses at the minute though that number does go up and down! strangely i actually thought of Gillian when i saw him. it's a shame that pedigrees are now joining the moggy's in being abandoned and neglected :(
-
as a persian slave for the past twenty years that sends shivers down my spine and I suspect mine aren't as perfectly groomed as Gillian's
-
sorry cazzer forgot about you and bungly of course :-[
-
thats ok Dawn I tend to talk a bit more about the wegies and Ginger so I'm not even sure people know I've had 14 persians. Many of those were rescues so its not just a recent phenomenon that cause them to come to rescue. I've only got Oska and Sassie left now and they are 13 yrs.
-
i didn't realize that Cazzer, but i am a realitively new member. i must admit i had never heard of pedigrees being rescues until recently so perhaps it is just more publicised now?
-
sadly persians seem to be quite common in rescue, I think its the longhair that people can't cope with, another you see a lot are bengals (I have one myself so tend to notice them)
-
I think my first rescue was Melody about 15 years ago. Used to help with the Shirrin Rescue and homed quite a few from them
-
Oh wow, Pacey is gorgeous :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:
I remember Shirrin rescue -i went to one of their open days once - what a drive it was , around 5 hours and had to stay overnight in a guest house.
I have 5 all rescues , they get groomed regularly though (every couple of days ) , also there is a lot of eye cleaning to do too and occasionally noses and bums as well !
I do have a soft spot for them too and often been tempted by another -but its the vet bills that stop me and pretty lucky as tey all get on pretty well together.
-
Wow Pacey is gorgeous and will be stunning when his fur grows ;D
I think quite a lot of pedigrees end up in rescue but tracking them down is very hard, except through specialist rescues.
I have recently seen two birmans a lot like Paceys condition in the Birman Cat Club safe houses, sadly one was very old and didnt make it :(
I didnt know about your persians cazzer.

I'm sure he'll be restored to glory in no time Lau, he's a lucky boy :)

:Luv2: awww bless!

omg cant believe ive found this thread on Pacey ! he looks so sick :'(
an update ..(for those who dont know Pacey came to live with me from Laus in febuary).
Pacey had been having a bit of poop truoble but a dose of anti biotics and a good trim to his trousers and hes feeling a lot perkier, I thought Id add a pic of how he is now. I did try to get some nice pics today but he wasnt playing ball, he was too interested in climbing onto my shoulder like a parrot and then breathing into my ear
-
No more he is very cute and hansome ;D ;D
-
Oh Jo! What a stunner he is :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2: Utterly beautiful coloured coat. Glad his tummy is settling
-
his coat is so pretty when its brushed and since he had the meds and his trim hes not been getting any staining either so he looks lovely and tidy :wow:
, he is a good lad..just a pity he doesnt get on with the other two really. Lau did say he didnt like other cats though. he has reached the point where he and miyagi can be in the same room but the friendship they were building up was spoilt when pacey went for georgia...miyagi gave him a good ticking off and since then they havent been as close :scared:
Georgia is pettrified of him as pacey loves chasing her so she trembles if she sees him..so now its a case of Pacey being sat on my knee in front room if georgia is out then i have to move him when she wants to come in as if she sees him she runs off back outside. I did want to let him be my upstairs cat with miyagi but he seems to prefer the ground floor patrol. i spend a lot of time in my room so thought he would love the company but im no competition to the food bowls :innocent:
hes such a cuddly cat though i just wish he and georgia could make friends as otherwise hes lovely, my moms chap fell for him when he came up as pacey just dumped himself on his knee and stayed there till they left :shy:
-
Oh Jo - you've done a wonderful job on him, he's gorgeous. :Luv2:
-
He is stunning :wow: :wow: :wow: so exotic :wow: :wow: :wow: its hard to believe he is the same cat as the first photos! what an amazing recovery and turn around  cant believe his previous owners just kept him outside!?!?
Never had a pedigree, but they are beautiful :drool; :drool;
;D ;D
-
Jo, he looks fantastic. He was the only cat in his household, so they obviously didn't take the time to care for him, like you and your family do. You are doing a wonderful job with him and I'm so glad he has gone to such a fantastic home. He's a credit to you! Give him a fuss from us
-
Thankyou Lau.
He is a greedy little monster :evillaugh:
he is still terrorisizing Georgia but he and miyagi have started eating together (mainly as they are both so greedy so they try to eat what i put out on first plate at same time ) and they will lie on my bed together etc now so both boys seem to be making an effort to get on.
He seems to be happier than he was as he ruled th kitchen at first but has moved into front room and even ventures upstairs to my room now as well so has moved away from guarding the food bowls :shy:
Ive given him one of those heated sleep mats which he likes as he had adopted the washbasket for a long time and despite trying different beds he preferred dirty washing  fingers crossed though the mat is currently a sucess :wow:
I do feel a bit sorry for him as georgia and miyagi are more like brother and sister so are very bonded but he has at least come to be able to hanging out with miyagi at least so hopefully in time they may all get along. he gets lots of cuddles off me and the kids...you dont get much choice with Pacey as if he wants to plonk himself on you then you are his for the next few hours :evillaugh:
