Lacie's going in for blood tests and scan tomorrow. She's been on and off her food lately, lost weight, drinking more - and had a bit of a wobbly turn yesterday. Vet can feel a mass in her tummy :(
-
oh Gillian so sorry to hear this. Hoping that its not anything serious  x
-
My heart goes out to you Gillian, I hope it is nothing serious

Oh Gillian :'( How can life be so cruel :(
Will be thinking of you both tomorrow and hoping for a more positive update
-
Thanks :thanks: I forgot to say, also, her gums are very pale. Earlier, she'd yawned and I saw what I thought was a white lump on her gum - when I said to the vet about it, she looked, and said it was actually her gums very pale.

Gillian, I'm so sorry to hear about Lacie :(
You'll both be in my thoughts today
-
Oh Gillian. :care: Hope the tests come back with something treatable. Give Lacie a little cuddle from me.
-
:( thinking of you and Lacie

Not good news :( her liver enzymes are very high, this could be due to her not eating much recently, but more likely, vet thinks, related to tumour/s (lymphoma probably) in her abdomen, and she's jaundiced. Kidney values are also pretty high. We could have done a scan, then maybe biopsy, but her prognosis isnt good whatever the results of those, so I'm not going down the route of more tests and possibly surgery - my vet agrees and thinks we should just give her supportive treatment, steroids, a supplement for her liver and appetite stimulant :(
-
poor Lacie and poor you, suppose it comes with the territory of taking on other peoples unwanted
-
Sorry the news is not better Gillian. My heart goes out to you.
Sending lots of positive vibes for Lacie.

Thanks :thanks: I tried her with some a/d this evening - she ate some but not enough to keep her going, then moved away from the plate. I then tried her with some Liquivite - again, she was enthusastic to start with, but its almost like she's given up, and eating is too much of an effort :(
-
I know that one of my past vets were very worried about Napoleons liver when he wouldnt eat and he was lucky.
I so feel for you and this seems to have come on and gone down hill so quickly and am so sorry.
I used to feed ad to Kocka from my finger and crawl round the floor to feed her, did this for a couple of years cos she would not eat it from a dish, over a day I could nearly get one tin into her. She would only eat a tiny bit each time.

I did that with Sam - manys the time I sat on the kitchen floor with him to encourage him to eat, it seemed to work - they just need that kickstart I think.
If I'm honest this probably hasnt been a rapid decline with Lacie - I'd been so focused on BB that I didnt properly register how little Lacie was actually eating :(
I got her to have some more Liquivite about an hour ago, and I'll give her some before bedtime when the others have their biscuits.
-
Sorry it's rotten news Gillian. Let's hope the meds will let her enjoy the time she has left with you and hope it's a long time too. :Luv2:
Have youo tried giving her some fish, maybe raw fish - the smell of it might make her want to eat.
Mary

So sorry to hear this, Gillian. What a time you're having lately :(
-
Little and very often Gillian, cos thats the only way they will often eat.
I also used a pate type food that I put down in small portions because as much food I could get her to eat was good......she eventaully started munching on supermeat! but as a priority always gave her the ad on finger.
-
So sorry to hear this Gillian, seem to be saying this a lot lately but treasure the time you have together :'(
-
so sorry to hear this Gillian :( poor Lacie x

how is Lacie today????
-
how is Lacie today????
Thanks for asking :thanks: I'm not sure what to make of this - all over the weekend I tried her with 4-5 small meals a day, usually she was sitting behind my chair in the lounge, so I brought all her meals to her as she didnt come out into the kitchen with the others :) She started eating tiny amounts, and in between solid food I gave her saucers of Liquivite which she drank enthusiastically each time. I've kept going with this regime and she's obviously now feeling well enough to come and seek me out when she thinks it should be time for her saucer of Liquivite lol ;)
I'm guessing this is the steroids improving her appetite, but she also looks better in herself and seems a lot brighter. :)

That is good news
