Because I can't find the answer! Is salvia safe in a garden with cats visiting it? I saw a plant today and wanted to buy it as it had lovely flowers - but I wasn't sure it was safe. Can anyone find any info? :)

it's not on the fab cats list : http://www.fabcats.org/owners/poisons/plants.html

Thanks Sam. Blimey, ferns are bad for them? I only have one, but I'm glad mine seem disinterested in it.

Our garden is covered in ferns :-:
Word to wise JS ............ slugs love salvias............ I planted 6 some years ago and only 2 very sorry looking ones survived the night and I was left with 6 sticks after 2 days. As you know, we don't kill stuff so slug pellets an absolute no no in our garden ............. so sadly no salvias :(

I can't find anything that says it's harmful to cats but there are so many species. There are also lots of stories like this one that realy surprised me:

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that LOL. If you want to attract slugs and snails to your garden then salvias are a sure fire way to get em!

I knew it was a legal high, Mary. ;) But the flowers are just lovely.
Arghhh. Rosella and Sam, really? We get loads of slugs. Maybe I'll have to actually start baiting the slug traps. (I get them sozzled so they go out in style. ;))

I've found over the years that the best thing to stop them touching my plants is to surround the plants with broken egg shells.
