I thought I saw her doing this the other day but I just saw her sit down on the mat, then pull herself forward while sitting, sort of dragging her bum over the mat.
Just phoned the vet who said if she's eating & passing solids & liquids ok,then it's not to serious.Unfortunatly,I've just been laid off so until things are sorted money wise,I can't really afford to take her to the vets which is why I called the vets & it's not worth putting it thru insurance.I will however take her to the vet if things get worse..She's an indoor cat.Any idea what it could be?..

Sounds like she is trying to relieve an itchy bum to me, when was she last wormed?
-
September when she had her kitten booster..
-
Blocked anal glands is usually the problem and need emptying by the vet.
Sory you have been laid off
-
try worming first
-
I think indoor cats still need worming as they will catch and eat flies etc, My vet said I should worm the kittens once a month up until 6 months of age, then every six months after that.
It sounds like she is overdue for worming so I would definitely try that first first before going to the expense of a vet consult if funds are tight.
-
Sorry to hear you have been laid off
I would try worming Daisy, hopefully it will be all that is needed.

Thanks peeps,
I was diagnosed with a heart problem, sort of Angina like, & have been off sick since end April,Got a phone call from work on 6th June saying I'd been laid off so been trying to get benifits ect sorted.
Will go to the V E T & get some Wormers for Daisy.

Hope you manage to get the benefits sorted soon. Hearing you had been laid off can't have helped the angina
-
hope you get sorted out, seems a bit harsh, could they not find you lighter duties?

It was only a temp contract (March to Aug) in a call center, doing BBand tech support for Orange & was, tbh, quite stressful.Daisy's asleep on my lap now...

The only times I have come across this "skiing" behaviour was blocked anal glands (mom's cat Susan) and a couple of times when Groucho had a dirty bum  when he was trying to clean it (once too runny and once too solid). Sorry about your own health issues

Sky had this and worming her didn't help and she didn't have compacted anal glands either. The vet shaved her back end which did help slightly but not much. I think she was intolerant to the food I was giving her and changed it.....no more scooching. Had to try several brands before getting the one that she would eat and that she wouldn't scooch after. She ended up on Iams wet and Hills Diet biscuits. She briefly ate some Felix when I ran out of Iams and the problem returned.
Good luck getting her sorted. :)

Sorry to read your health and finances are up in the air, glad to hear you are out of a stressful work situation tho. Will Daisy eat Butcher's Classic in the large tins? It's much cheaper than branded pouches and only a short ingredients list - animal protein, no additives and no cereals which means you eliminate some possible dietary culprits. Available everywhere too: supermarkets, Wilkinsons, Pets at Home.

Sorry to hear about your health and your job Mervyn
Hope it's nothing serious with Daisy and she can give you some TLC cat style

Hi Mervyn,
My old cat Rosie used to do that when she had poo stuck to her bum, she was long haired and sometimes a turd got stuck so she'd pull herself along and draw brown lines on the lino, which was lovely. Does sound like worms though, you don't need to get wormers from vets though, you can get drontal from vetuk or somewhere like that, I find them easy to administer (once I have actually caught the cat which is the hardest bit!)
Mine are indoor cats too, sometimes I feel guilty but when I see how healthy, happy, active and safe they are I usually feel better about it. Too many cats get run over, lost, shut in somewhere, hurt or poisoned these days, is a shame but times are a changing.
Hope you get your benefits sorted, I work on Emplyment Support Allowance for the DWP so if you need any advice PM me.

Parki does this now and again. She is wormed regually and has had anal glands checked. Wonder if its a irritated bot.
Hope it sorts itself out

I'm gonna have to take her to the vets tommorow, she's doing it more & more today.I'll phone the vets tommorow & ask if I can go on tick until I get my ESA.Don't like doing that but it's Daisy's health here.
Thanks Jo,My claim was meant to be sorted by 29th but my work forgot to put down when I went on SSP..So I have to call them Thursday to get it priority but it'll still be another 7 days before I get any money,so it looks like it's a crisis loan from the dole till then!My claim was submitted 7th June..and I was given a target date of 17 days..

Hope she gets on OK at the vets  Do you have PDSA in Northern Ireland?

Got her booked in for tommorrow morning at 0950.We do have the PDSA here, they're about 20 odd miles away in Belfast but due to how they treated Orbit,I wouldn't use them.
Glenn vets was Daisy's vets when she was in the ASSISI & I've arranged to pay them off when my benefit's sorted out.
-
Thanks,Just back there now,she was as good as gold in the car & with the vet.She was checked out & is about 2lb above her target weight,in good health & it was her glands that was the trouble.Vet drained them but it'll probably occur again in 6-8 months & to bring her back if it does.
As a side note, the cat I got before Daisy,Christmas, who was a white deaf cat & I had to give back after one night as she was so destructive, was rehomed as a house cat.It appears she got out in October 2010 & hasn't been seen since.
I really hope she's OK,she was such a loverly cat apart from her boistrous nature.
-
Glad it was nothing serious ;D
Hope Christmas will be found safe soon :(
-
Pleased to hear Daisy's vet visit went well :)
-
Daisy's back to the vets on Wednesday, she's still dragging her bum &,not only that, but she's developed a cough/sneeze over the weekend, she seems ok today so I'm wondering if it was the heat/pollen as neither of us slept well last night it was so hot & humid..
-
Hope the vet visit goes well and Daisy is soon feeling better
-
Hope that Daisy will feel better soon

Hope it's nothing untoward Merv
:get well: Daisy :care:
-
Wishing Daisy all the best for vets visit
-
Thanks,
She has an existing respritory condition that she got in the ASSISI when they were hit with an outbreak of Kennel Cough? so I just wan't to make sure she's OK & get her a shot of antibiotics.I'm also concerned that she may have picked up a bug from her last visit..
-
Vet told me she had cat flu at the ASSISI so she'll be prone to these bouts from time to time.SHe had some cattare on her chest so D.C got a 14 day antibiotic shot & a thingy on the back of the neck for worms as well, she perked up on the way home & is now tocking into a expensive tin of John West wild pink salmon!! ;D
-
glad she is a bit happier, one of mine is a cat flu carrier
-
Pink Salmon lol.................now you have started you may have created a monster

Little madam couldn't wait for me to open the tin & remove the backbone...she made sure I knew she was there by walking over my bare feet & digging her claws in!!
