I got a lovely cat tree from Zooplus a few months ago and Drum has already clawed the hammock bit to shreds - any day now she's going to leap into it and fall straight through!
Comedy value aside, it's pretty bad so I need to replace it but how? I contacted Zooplus but they don't sell replacement parts. The structure is fine, it's just the fabric but I'm useless at sewing - and it would probably have to be industrially sewn on anyway! Any ideas anyone?
-
Zooplus may not do replacement parts but Purrs shop does ;) ;)

Wow, I never thought of looking in the shop - thanks Tan!
Any idea when they'll be more beige ones in stock? And do you know how it attaches to the scratching post?
-
Do ya have a hammock now hun? If so the ones Purrs shop does is basically just the hammock part that is made to fit inbetween two posts or i have fitted my lads to the top post with platform just above it. (see pic) It has to have a top and bottom post or platform as that's what holds it in place.
Is it just the one replacement ya wanted hun? I have 4 Taupe (darker colour) and one beige in stock at mo.
To fit inbetween posts you simply pop the end of the hammock bed through the pin of one of the posts and screw the above post down on to it.

This is the tree I have: http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/scratching_posts/solid_wood_cat_trees/wooden_base_plate/96913 (http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/scratching_posts/solid_wood_cat_trees/wooden_base_plate/96913) the hammock screws into the top of the post, there's no platform.
-
I was also thinking of doing replacement posts as well . There are diff size lengths so if one part on a cat tree breaks you only need to buy the post that broke in replacement to fix.
Do ya think the individual posts would be good to stock as well?
-
Possibly, the rest of my tree is fine at the moment though cos I've only had it a few months and neither of them use it as a scratch post (they prefer the sofa! :censored:).
So would it fit in my tree okay?
-
Yes that's fine. The hammock end that fits to the post has a metal rim and plate with a hole to thread the bolt or screw through and screw down onto the post.
The place i get the parts from are the same place Zooplus get their trees from (Trixie in Germany)

Great, thanks, will order one soon - save me the beige one!

Tan... I think replacement posts in the purrs shop is an excellent idea.
I will need some for my cat trees in the not too distant future, but I have different trees to the zooplus one.
But if you can find the different sized ones and stock them in the purrs shop. It would be fabulous.

No prob will do hun. No hurry, will save it for you. I have more beige coming in later in month and also they now do a bigger size in the beige as well :)
-
Fabulous !!!
Now must find my tape measure
-
Tan. Do you know if most or all cat trees use the same screw diameter/size to fix them to bases/platforms at all ?
Do you have a picture looking down from the top.
Im hoping there is a standard size that cat trees use in general.
-
The thread/screw size on the 9cm diameter posts are 6mm (m8) and the ones on the wider posts 12cm diameter are 8mm (M10).
what size diameter are your posts and screws?
was your tree a special made one?
-
and i will see if i can get them cheaper still :Luv:
-
I would be in the market for a few posts as well Tan!
-
Tan you're a star :) started saving those pennies already for a few new posts!
-
I got my trees on ebay from an online shop called albany pets LTD.
Just measured the screws and I think they are 8mm.
So should be ok. ;D. Will buy a test one when you get them in and go from there I think.
-
Just realised it doesn't matter as the ones you are going to sell come with a thread part so I could just use that instead of the original one.
Yay !!! :na na na:
