Cats are just acting as the natural predators they are. If the ecosystem is out of whack and species are becoming extinct, there's only one species that should shoulder the blame - humans.

Humans should certainly be restricted!
Seriously, how can this even be debated when humans carry on destroying so much wildlife and habitat and sucking up the planet's resources?
The only thing that should be restricted to one per household are children!

The numbers of birds decline because WE destroy their ecosystem and breeding places, not because cats catch the unwary and the old, sick and weak of the species. If anything , cats help the species survive by weeding out the lesser individuals.
Also, cats make up for some of the natural predators we have eliminated or greatly reduced, such as wolves.
The Aussie people may be right....... about Australia that is. Cats are not an indigenous species down under, they have no natural enemies and upset the ecosystem. As do rabbits, horses, sheep and other animals WE introduced there.

Agreed. I love that there's someone who thinks they can train their cats out of an inbuilt, ingrained instinct to hunt in the comments....
