Post by: Angiew on April 28, 2011, 11:37:40 AM
Last seen about 2pm yesterday when I gave him some ham. Been up and down garden calling him a few times. Guess it will soon be time to print leaflets...... :'(

I know it doesn't lessen the worry at him not being home but yesterday was prime 'sheds open' weather so he may well have got himself stuck somewhere.

Hope he's home soon

I understand your panic, I am just like you if one of them doesn't come home.
But, usually, they just like the spring weather and don't feel like going home, or they got themselves locked in a garage or garden shed.

If he hasn't turned up by sunset, wait till it is dark and quiet, and take a walk. Call his name, then wait, walk on, just a few doors, then call again. Walk as close to the sheds and gaqrages as you can, so you will hear his call IF he is in there. Bring a good pic, and show it to people you meet in the street, especially dog owners. They often see a cat rush out of or into the bushes when their dog passes, so if he is around, there is a fair chance a dog will have flushed him out at one time.

When Tosca was missing I put up flyers with her photo and my cell phone number, and I got a call from a nurse cycling home from the nursing home, late at night. She had seen her strolling in the park.

still no sign.

I have just come back from posting leaflets round the block asking people to check sheds as its so hot here. After copying then realised I'd got my number wrong so had to go through each one and change it.

Will do some more tomorrow if he's not back.

I know just how you feel.
Tosca once went missing for 2 whole weeks.
I had already given her up for dead when she finally came home. So thin.... She had been locked up somewhere, and being a feral cat, instead of escaping when a door opens, she will hide from any human and crawl into the deepest darkest corner. So she must have waited till the door was left open and the people moved well away from there.

Let's hope epeople will go water their plants and get their stuff out again tonight, and he will be able to get out.

DO go for a walk and  call him at night, it's your best chance if he is still locked in.

so pleased hes back - id love to see where cats go to when they arent at home though, my moms cat pansy goes off for miles each day in devon and comes back covered in burrs, sure she must go to the coast paths to get them
our Georgia has been shown the garden but is terified of it, shes allways hunting and jumping outside and her mom was a feral apparently so thought georgia would be a cat who would need to be out, she seems to happy inside though and prefers looking out the window- thankfully!

people round here have been very nice - had 3 calls yesterday and a couple popped round this morning to say they had seen a black cat in the school fields. We have a primary school at the back of the house, we meet corner to corner and there have been sightings of two black cats in there quite often - one small and one huge.
The huge one is supposedly a menace to the other cats and they all run from him - I'll have to have words with Goose when he comes in about that  :-[

The other thing is I meet Alfie (as was!). He hasn't seen me for nearly a year and ran up to me tail in the air and headbutting. (He's the white/black kitten I had here for a few weeks last summer). He started following me from the top of the garden down and I had to keep walking him back up yesterday, luckily Henry came along to man the borders and I made a quick escape. He also started to follow me when I went down his road with the leaflets - that did worry me but he didn't follow too far.

My mate called around today Angie.  She's met Dinah maybe 3 or 4 times over the last couple of years since she came to us from Covcats.

I opened the door to my mate and she was standing there with a big grin on her face and Dinah in her arms head butting her  :innocent:   Very sweet and all that but I'd prefer Dinah to be just a tad more wary  :scared:.  She'll go to anyone............. just hates cats  :evillaugh:

Embarrassing that  :shify:
