Glad to see this judge thought of the cats welfare when deciding sentence for this man.

True, but I wonder how often the cat's owner thinks of the cat's welfare when he is boozing?

surely the the police would have been able to break and in remove the cat

sometimes i feel sorry for people like this- i dont really know his life story but obviously something pushed him into the state he is at some point and the cat may be the only friend he has- its sad really when people get into such a state, im sure if the cat was at risk it would have been brought out into the open after being in the news?
I watched one of those britains worst homes things the other day- a man was an accountant at the city council and went to work everyday whilst leaving 30 odd cats to live in a house filled with poo and filth (it was beyond filthy- it was knee high and like a horror film ) the poor cats were nearly all put down apart from two.
he obviously cared for the cats in someway as the house was covered in cat food tins etc but it was in a bizarre way as they and himself were obviously suffering beyond belef by living in that hell hole. he appaerenty told the inspectors after being banned from keeping cats for life that things started to get out of control and he was too ashamed to ask help. It was truly horrific to see but i couldnt help feeling a tad sorry for the whole scenario-he did care for cats to a certain degree but it was all so wrong, what kind of situtaton in life leads a person to live such a life?
on another level you have the "cat lover" who spends fortunes on a cat , pampering and feeding it untill it is riddled with health problems due to obesity- again they do have a love for the animal without question but it is still abuse.
its a weird world thats for sure :(
