Just posted on Catchat, but thought I'd post some more on Brownie here too. It's so good to be on both forums and amongst people like you who love their cats so much. I'm hurting so much at the moment and it doesn't take much to set me off blubbing! But I'll write some more...
Brownie lived in the garden until just over 7 weeks ago, although he had his meals here and lots of cuddles! I was reluctant to let him mix with the 3 other indoor cats though as the boy puss in particular is a bit jealous of other cats and a diabetic who tends to get ill if stressed. The 3 are a Mum, brother and sister actually. Anyway, it was in February when I noticed a nasty abscess on Brownie's face and promptly took him to the vets. He suspected FIV so I decided to have him tested, and sure enough he had it. So I decided to keep him in my bedroom and a pen in the garden, so he could still have a bit of outdoors when it was sunny. We've had some nice sunny days recently too. The abscess healed after 2 antibiotic treatments. Then he started to get weak on his legs and had a lump on his neck. This time cancer was suspected. Vet talked about PTS, but I didn't want to give up on Brownie as he was pretty happy with his new lifestyle. Then he caught a dreaded cold on Wednesday night and had trouble breathing with this and the lump. He slept beside me on Wednesday and Thursday night. We were both so happy cuddling together. :) He lost his brave battle yesterday though and passed away in my arms. Such a brave gorgeous boy who I loved so much!

So sad to have lost him so soon but at least he went having known love and kindness
RIP Brownie, such a brave boy indeed, safe and sound at the Bridge by now xx
Remember Our Love
I was chosen that day
I'm learning to fly
the world took me away,
but please don't you cry
And I chose you today
to try and be strong
so please don't you cry
and don't say that I'm gone
When you're feeling alone
just remember our love,
I'm up near the stars
looking down from above.
Remember our love
In a moment you'll see
that I'm still here beside you
when you're thinking of me.

I am so sorry that you have had to part with Brownie. I had to have my much loved cat put to sleep yesterday so i know how you must be feeling. The pain is too much at times but you obviously loved him very much.

:thanks: Amanda and Everyone who has sent hugs and words. It all helps.
So sorry for your loss Amanda and sending you  too. I didn't actually have Brownie PTS. He made his own choice and died in my arms in my bedroom. Quite a shock, but I guess this was where he wanted to go.

I'm so Sorry

RIP Brownie. Am so pleased that at the very end, he trusted you enough that you were there to watch the last stage of his journey take place safely.
-
:thanks: It's nice to think that I was trusted enough by Brownie. Lots of cats go and find somewhere private don't they? Such a lovely, trusting little fellow. :Luv:
-
Indeed. We should never underestimate a cat's ability to know unerringly when to trust someone who's shown them kindness at a time it's most needed.

Sorry for your loss.
It sounds as though he had a great few weeks and found a new friend in you.
I took in a stray about 12/13 years ago and she fell over one day and we took her to the vets and she had leukaemia and had to be put to sleep. I balled my eyes out, but you do get attached to them so quickly.
I don't know how long you had Brownie for, but I believe he'll be looking down at you all with a big grin on his face and a pile of his favourite nosh in front of him.
-
Awww thanks Sue and Miroslav. Your words about Brownie's trust and him grinning with a bowl of nosh are so comforting! xx :)
-
Comforting is what you need right now and having been there with three of mine, the thought of them in a happy place looking down at those they've left behind egging us on in life, really comforted me.
-
sorry to hear about Brownie. Although it must have been a shock for him to die in your arms, it must have been a relief not having to make that decision  x

Just reading this again and it's nearly a year. Still grieving I guess, and feeling a bit raw at this time.
Never stop thinking of you and loving you Brownie. xxx

Today is one year since Brownie went to the Bridge. I'm thinking of him lots, and there are flowers on his grave. Always love and miss you, Darling Baby Brownie. xxx
Also, I had a lovely hug with Tompuss, who came to live here last May. :) It just felt right to welcome Tompuss here, just like Brownie wished it to happen.
Love Tompuss to bits, and Kitty, Patch and Blackie too! xxxx
-
Hope he sends you a rainbow soon to let you know he misses you too
-
Over 2 years now, sweet Brownie. Perhaps you and Blackie will be friends on the bridge.
Love you Sweetheart. xxx :Luv:
