please :(
he has his dental tomorrow! they think all of his back teeth need to come out but his front teeth just need a bit of a clean.
bless him, no breakfast for him tomorrow morning (and no sleep for me tonight)
any tips on helping his recovery?
:)

star had something similar a couple of years back, to be honest she came home fine, its the not feeding before that is the tricky bit!
-
Algie has all his teeth out earlier this year and apart from a few days on sloppy food he has been fine ;D I am sure Benji will be okay :)
-
Sending lots of good vibes to Benji

Sending lots of positive vibes and   for you and Benji.
I'm with Dawn on this one. When Korky had teeth out the most difficult part was starving him beforehand and as for the vet's advice to give only asmall , light meal when he came home - no way. He ate it as an appetiser then asked for his tea - and later his supper. :)
Just use your instinct and take it as it comes. He'll be fine.
-
thank you, I will worry about him, but he has been hit by a car before and broke his back (which is how he ended up off the streets into rescue) so I know he is a tough boy really!
-
good luck to Benji and lots of

Sending lots of vibes for Benji  Hope everything goes well.

Sending loads of vibes for Benji -i am sure he will be fine .
Winston had a couple of teeth out a few years ago , he sat near the water bowl most of the night but still managed to eat well.
Just had him at the vets and been through the starving period with him (also the others as couldn't leave food down for them either)
Had Winston jumping on me at 5am because he was starving , Sopjhie yowling like mad an hour later as she was too , then Fifi came in and had a bit of a grumble , then Smartie sat on me !
( i wouldn''t mind but the others had food given to them when Winston was upstairs , its usually down all the time , so thats what they were all put out about as for one night it wasn''t!!)

:luck: Benji
Some nice soft food for the first few days might be an idea but I bet he surprises you by munching on rock hard biccies within hours!
Will be thinking of you both tomorrow and sending positive vibes Benji's way
-
Good luck, Benji!! :)

Thank you,
poor boy was terrified when I left him there this morning. The house feels really weird without him here, even with the kittens. The vets are going to put him on a drip for his op so hopefully that will help in his recovery.
I should hear from the vets by 4, we are planning on doing a mixture of boiled chicken and his usual wet cat food mushed up for him, unless the vets give us some food for him.
-
We are sending positive vibes from the Clan for Benji and a special hug for his Mum
-
Ironically often biscuits are better than soft food, cos soft food adheres to the sore places but let him choose
Good he is on a drip and looking forward to Benji coming home ;D

do you think we should get some dried food in then? he doesn't have any anymore due to his diet and him getting a runny tummy from most brands of dry food. I might get a small bag from the vets when we go and pick him up, although haven't heard from them yet so don't know when that will be.
if not I think our local PAH do the royal canin or applaws dry that he can eat...
just want the vets to phone now, tried to do some uni work but can't concentrate...keep drinking cups of tea, think I have had about 6 now

thanks for the reassurances for a slightly paranoid and overdramatic oversensitive cat mum
(although my own mum has told me she has got him a get well card, so I think I get it from her )
-
  If he usually has wet I would stick with that.
-
I agree with Carol. sorry to get it wrong.
I understand, the waiting is the worst part
-
is ok, I did wonder about wet vs dry, but with his weight loss with dry cut out of his diet I kept him on wet only.
The vets phoned at about 4 and said the op went fine but he was just waking up and that I can collect him at 7 tonight, so still got a bit of a wait but I can stop staring at the phone willing it to ring!
  thanks for all the help! :shy:
-
So pleased the vets are keeping him until late cos it will give him time to come round better
-
He is home!!!! completely high as a kite and not really with it, but very affectionate and seems to hold no grudges. Demolished 2 bowls of food and wanted more of course. We are keeping an eye on him though, but he seems much brighter than I expected.
Had 8 teeth out altogether.
Thanks everyone for all the support, vibes and hugs, they were much needed!

So pleased he is home, hungry and OK ;D
-
Glad he is back home and am sure he will be happier without those teeth :)
-
Glad that Benji is home and well, give him a snuggle from me please

Ditto! Give him a special healing head kiss from my boys too :care:

Benji says thank you for the cuddles and snuggles, he greatly enjoyed all the attention last night. He has demolished an enormous bowl of food this morning (with his antibiotics in :evillaugh:) and is currently sitting on the windowsill chattering to the birds.
He is obviously much more comfortable, for the last 2 weeks he has been grumpy with everyone, the kittens and us, hissing and grumbling and not wanting any cuddles but now he is back to his old self and seems much happier! The kittens have taken well to his return and haven't reacted to the vet smell, although Ginger decided to be sick this morning, so am keeping an eye on her and Benji today.
All in all I am very pleased with how quickly he seems to have perked up from his op, best £267 I have spent! :)
-
Lovely to hear Benji is a happy chap again ;D and hope Ginger is feeling better now.

  glad Benji is feeling better hun. sending my love and hugs over to you all.
