So I had some fabric and wadding and thought I'd give making a cat bed a go but only had enough for a Little Miss size bed...........It needs a little more stuffing and I messed up the seam so it has an ugly bit but that's easily fixed next time round :)
The idea is that I will possibly sell these if there is interest, have posted them on Facebook and am going to try a crafty shop in town as they sell all sorts of handcrafted stuff but never seen a pet bed :sneaky: Then of course there's ebay. But I will need to wait till I can buy stuff to make several samples to show folks. I will make them deep or shallow, big or small :shy:
So without further ado, here it is, the first rough go!

Little Miss has thus far studiously ignored it, as I suspected, so I swapped it for the all round favourite bed in front of the radiator in the lounge...........

Oh no, those Dave pics are tiny, give me a bit, I'll get them bigger :sneaky:
-
looks fab, you are so talented :)
-
Bit of a faff but here they are, better Dave pics for all you Dave fans!

it is abit of a tight squeeze itsn't it dave?
-
   love the bed but Dave really doesn't look comfy in it.
-
He was determined, tried on three separate occasions just in case either it had grown or he had shrunk, neither did :evillaugh: It's the perfect size for madam for she doesn't take easily to new things, will have to wait at least a month until I know if making her one was worth the effort. At least it gave me practice!
-
Very nice :wow: If you do start making them to sell maybe not a good idea to use Dave's pic as the advertisement though as people might think it's a miniature bed :evillaugh:
-
Excellent, really pleased to hear you sounding so positive. Many years ago I used to use old polyester duvets to make the padded part of cat bed, free material and ever so snug and comfy.
You just need to come up with your own logo to put on the goods in anticipation of your famous designer status.
Best of luck.

Coo hun that's fantastic ;D ;D ;D looks very professional
Great to have diff sizes. I have found the larger beds are a better seller on the shop. If ya get this going hun, i will gladly pop some in shop for ya

This one was small because that was all I had enough fabric for, much to Dave's clear disgust :evillaugh:
I am making one for someone this week ;D So will of course take pics. I just need a few pennies to get some samples done.
That would be great Tan :thanks: I shall keep you all updates. I could do sort of bog standard ones for the shop but with the option of fully customised? I like the idea of people being bale to choose exactly the colours, fabrics, sizes and depth. Deep ones are great for spritely young mogs but I'd like to offer ones a bit lower so if mog is a bit older and, ahem, creaky round the joints, they're still easy to get in and out of :Luv:
I'm playing around with lots of ideas in my head, they will hopefully come to fruition in due course. I must however, invest in some cototn and elastic and get those lids on the go for Theresa at some point ;) :evillaugh:
-
that bed looks awesome! would definitely buy one for the bedroom for Sadie!
-
Well done Shona.
Trust Dave to get his bum in :evillaugh: ;)
Maybe we can see a pic of Little Miss in her bed soon? :Luv2:

The bed looks great and think Dave is hinting he would like on of his own :evillaugh:
-
Sooooo, barring a few supplier related issues with my local fabric shop not having a couple of bits, I will very soon be making the custom bed ;D I wanted to get it done today but the stuff I'm missing is of course the stuff I need first :tired:
Anyway, here's a pic of the colour combo. I have been asked for a blue bed but otherwise given free reign. The plain is the base, the stripes the outer tube and the stars the applique name. Do we likey?

Nice combo of materials :Luv2:
-
I cant see any of your pictures Shona, what software or site are you using?
-
I use photobucket, I think if you click where it should be it will take you to the photobucket album? I can see them :)
-
I can usually see photobucket things but getting nothing at all on your pics :(
-
The material looks great, hope we get to see a picture of the finished bed ;D
-
what a lovely selection of material :)
-
Weirddddddddddddddddddddddd, I can see pictures now :wow:
Love both original bed and blues, Dave looks a bit big for the bed lol
-
So I have this evening finished the personalised applique, I will point out it is not my strength! But the requestee is aware of this :evillaugh:

Lookin good ;D
-
Nearly finished now! ;D I'm really pleased with it so far, still have to master getting the flling not so lumpy and I think it needs a little more stuffing but essentially it's finished ;D The pictures aren't great, I just took them quickly on my mobile, I'll take proper ones tomorrow :)
Honest opinions please :sneaky:
