Title: shed conversion

After seeing the photos of Chico's pad the OH and I have agreed to start work on converting our sheds sooner rather than later. there is already light in the sheds but we don't know what to do about heating. we plan to keep feral cats in the sheds until we can tame them down and find new homes for them so i need to make the sheds suitable for all year round ideally. any ideas?

If you already have lighting can you add a pwer socket we have used the greehouse tube heaters with great success in the garage this winter along with nice electric heatpads and of course Microwave heat pads

Look forward to photo updates - Infra red bulbs are also good we have them on the dogs run as they don't need that much heat they seem to like the cold but they are both Border Collies with thick coats :shocked:

Hi Lau

I had my feral family in the shed, adults until they were neutered and rehomed on a farm and the kittens were in there until a couple of weeks ago. I already had lights and a couple of plug sockets (plus the shed had its own fuse box!!) I bought an oil filled radiator from argos for 20 quid and just had that plugged in. It kept the shed warm enough through the snow and everything. I had a rug down over the concrete floor and had beds, scratch posts, toys, radio etc in there. It was really good for taming the kittens as they were away from the hustle and bustle of the house. They are doing so well they have now made it into the house and have a new set up in the spare room. I let them out for short periods each day and you would hardly believe they used to be feral :)

P.s. I did take my dyson down the shed and hoover up the cobwebs and grass cuttings...my neighbours must have thought I was mad lol!

I've got the tubular heaters in Chico's pad  ;) and also in the other outside foster pens. They are very effective in the purpose built foster pens because they are lined and insulated, but not so effective in Chico's shed conversion, as it isnt lined and insulated.
