Im having an awful time with makosi taking her tablets she hates it big time !
she will not take it with her food or even wrapped in a bit of chicken
i have to put it down her throat which i hate doing so much
i think im going to end up choking her or something :'( :'( :'( :'( until about 5 yrs ago i could never take tablets myself i use to panic about them getting stuck
i wish they were all like my bridie who will take a pill wrapped in a piece of meat and even if it falls out the meat she will pick it up and eat the tablet on its own :Luv:

Try rolling some cheese so its pliable, then wrapping it around the tablet ;D Make a few, then 'sneak' the tablet filled one in the middle of them. Works a treat with Max, he thinks he getting goodies ;D Worked on his worming tablet last night anyway when all else failed

Try rolling some cheese :oh noo:
Ironically, Cheese doesnt like cheese :evillaugh: Doc LOVES it though, he goes wild pawing at empty mini cheddars bags  that is a good idea for him (not only does he look like Max but they have the same food tastes!) :Luv:
I had to give Gerti her worming tablets last night (4 of them! thought that was a bit mad!) I had to put them down her throat - felt so bad :( will defo try the cheese thing with her next time - not sure if she likes it but theres not much Gerti doesnt like!

4 Dawn! What were you using?
Lisa, i would try the cheese option, primula is good too! I put a slit in a piece of raw steak and down it goes without chewing, stupid animals

i will give the cheese a go tonight and see if it works 8)

:scared: This is how they look the first time, and this :shify: is how they look after having to have pills for over 2 years.
I find getting the cat into a position between your legs, then holding with 1 hand their head, with their head totally back then put it as far as you can down the throat, works for me. Don't get me wrong the others are not so cooperative with tablet taking but I have perfected my way of giving them a pill so it always goes down. Mine wont take a treat with a tablet in either.

Oh i cant hold her and give her the pill oh no lol it takes my oh to hold one of the cats and its me who has to put it down there throat :( :( :( :( :( :(

With that Lisa I find the cat has a lot of distrust and is more scared. Ollie will sit for me when I get him into position but if I am out and OH has to do it then its mayhem. He will not sit and runs all over hiding, and seems more painfull for him if OH has to do it. I find getting them in a space on their own and doing it is less stressfull for them. Ollie knows when its time he dosnt even run, just slinks around the cat post a bit, he's more content with me doing it and we have built up a safeness with each other.

i find i have to have the oh hold mine and try and restrain mine while they have there tablet all my cats have attitude even if u try and stop them from doing something lol

OK youre going to love this but Mogs has a high blood pressure tablet every day. I had a 'pusher' and after breakfast I get the tablets and treats out of the drawer. Call Mogs and she comes and sits on the arm of the chair. I put an arm round her, open her mouth with one hand and operate the pusher with the other. After the pill she goes over the back of the chair to the other arm sits down and waits for her 5 treats!!!
Obviously some days she has a mood on her and wont come up but most days thats the routine

There are some cat treats on vetuk which you can buy and hide the tablet in:
http://www.vetuk.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=59 (http://www.vetuk.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=59)
I haven't tried them yet (as you need a min. order of £10) but I think a couple of people on here have.

i have to do the pinning between my legs routine - you learn quite quickly how to do these things when you live on your own and you have no option.
Dawn - what wormers were you using to need 4 of them???

I find it's different for each of mine, but my general routine (only for Frontline so far, but I guess pill-giving would be a similar deal) is to pop them on a chair with their back to me, put my left hand over their head, heel of hand to the front (guess it would be the other way round for pills) and part the fur with left hand fingers, leaving the right hand to do the business! They can struggle, but they don't get far, and it's over in a jiffy! Shanti, the 'naughtiest' of the three, is actually the easiest to do, whilst Sabu shouts and struggles and Meesha cries. Awww.
