First off, mods please feel free to move thread. Couldn't decide if it should go here, non-cat, fundraising or rescue/rehome (or all of them!).....
Anyways, it seemed like a good idea at the time - thursday......
Mog was in vets getting his leg done, I was at doctors getting the high cholesterol - lose weight, eat sensibly and exercise more lecture. My readings are in at 7.5 and the doctor did not seem to appreciate my comment that I would try to get to 8.0 next year.....
Anyway I noticed in the waiting room that Coventry do free health walks at various point around the city and was thinking that might be quite nice and that brought me to the following
http://www.leofriclions.org.uk/Walkathon2011.shtml
(are you still with me?)
Anyway..... I thought May 15th , over two months away....... get fit....... raise some money to help cover some of the vet bills for Mog... publicity in the local paper........win/win/win/win situation.
Now I am having second thoughts so the best way to not have second thoughts is to tell everyone about it and then I have no choice but to do it.
Early days yet, Judith and Nicky have offered to do it as well so I'm not asking for any definite sponsorship yet as I'm not sure how it works if we enter a team but am asking for sponsorship in principle.
At the moment I'm grossly overweight and under exercised.
Essentially its a 4 hour walk and it 1.75 mile laps round the memorial park in coventry.
So I reckon all I have to do is get superfit to marathon level.
So in 4 hours, thats 2 marathons, so 52 miles and thats around 30 laps round the park maximum.
(well ok , we'd be totally pushed to do much more than 8 laps).
I'm still in PJ's (this was my last slob weekend before I started Training ). So before I totally back down any sponsors out there? :run:
I'll have to put something up on FB at some point or something so if anyone has any ideas how to spread the word......
Unless I decide not to do it :-[
justgiving.com costs about £150 to sign up >:( was looking into it with someone wanting to do a marathon.
may take you up on that facebook event thing, just going to look now (well its that or go to all the effort of having a bath :eeeew: (we need a smelly litter tray smilie!)

Are you on facebook Angie or cov cats? Let me know and I'll try to find you and see if I can help (remotely...like an IT person lol)
-
both.
Coventry cat group is a page on my facebook - seemed the only way I could do it.
-
Found CCG and liked :D
And you've already created an event...I think you're pretty hot on this Faebook really Anie ;)
-
fb confuses me, even more so now i have 2 faces. There are things i can't do as ccg (make friends being one of them)
-
That's because its a "like" page, its not a separate person or a group.
You could set up a whole new account to create a separate person/user for CCG
Or you could create a group, then you will be able to add people to the group and you can make other people admins of your group. If you set up the group from your own account then it would still be linked to you. If you set up a CCG user account then you could create the group from that account.
Whether its user, like page or group...the same info still gets out. Some people even have all three :)

I suppose thats the main thing really. As long as people can see it.
-
Will be delighted to sponsor you Angie :)

 I'm in for the sponsor thing; if there is anything else I can help with along the way feel free to contact me (fitness/ nutrition is what I do for a living). Might I suggest you get fitted for some walking trainers to help avoid injury? :shy: Getting fitted means a *free* gait analysis in a 'proper' sports shop - this can take up to one hour - and shoes that cost £30+.
-
I just love it when we are all so helpful on here.
Nice one Jen.

Well got to the post box today, so day 1 = total exercise = 400yards!
I did apply for the gym discount so that will be good. It is Waewick , but nevermind - it will make an event of it....
